Yeah Nah Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) I usually procrastinate for ages about how I'm going to build a new project but not this time. Stock. Kit wire wheels and knock-offs. Champagne Mist. Locked in. Edited November 12, 2023 by Yeah Nah 6
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 One of the best GM cars designs. Super. Go for it! 2
espo Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 These looked like a custom when they were sitting on the showroom floor. 2
Lunajammer Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 This is a good old kit. Should just about fall together for you. 1
slusher Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 I did one stock with wire wheels in gold! 2
NOBLNG Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Sounds like a good plan.? These are very classy looking cars.? 1
dino246gt Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 I've been "dreaming" of customizing one, but it's not easy because they're just so beautiful as is! Have to go radical, otherwise you just can't make it look better! 2
Pierre Rivard Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 My all time favorite Buick. You got my attention! 1

Have to go radical, otherwise you just can't make it look better! If I've only got one example of a kit (as with this one) I'll go stock virtually every time. The Barris movie custom certainly is cool, but like you say Dennis, the stock 65 Riviera styling is pretty hard to beat. 1
Bills72sj Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 Yes, indeed. One of the best GM designs ever. 1

I think rounding the wheel wells was a big mistake on his design. Just my opinion. Yeah Nah- as for your plan- a perfect idea! Later- 1

One thing I've noticed is a lot of box art and advertising art from back in the day tended to depict the car lower, longer and even wider than it actually was. Re this current kit, even if one wanted to build the Barris custom, one glaring omission is there's no optional hood with those big long louvres. 1
Yeah Nah Posted November 18, 2023 Author Posted November 18, 2023 Got the paint and most of the trim done this week. The wire wheels that come with the kit are pretty decent, BUT, are WAY too wide, even for the optional wider tyres that come with the kit. Shaved off as much as I dared from the inside faces (about 3-4mm) but are still a little too wide. A couple of drops of super glue stopped them flopping around so all good. Hopefully finish this weekend. 3
Kah puts Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Holy smokes what a great colour, very tasteful ,and those wires are perfect.? 1
espo Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Beautiful looking paint finish and color. Like the chrome trim. Remember seeing a few in this color or one very close back when. 1
