Csaba aka felhasznaaloo Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 This is built from the Fire Chief kit, with extensive modifications to the chassis and suspension front and back, to make that lowrider stance happen. I also wanted the car to be able to 'stand tall', so the suspension can be adjusted to display the model with various ride heights and rakes. The paintwork was a lot of fun to do, lots of layers... my first time masking pinstripes, and also some cotton lace to imitate that flower-kind-of pattern. The last layer was supposed to be purple 'wire fence' motif over the maroon beltline, but it is just barely visible. Oh well... next time. Unbelievable but I only made one mistake during the unmasking process, which I was able to correct afterwards. Thanks for looking. 15
JollySipper Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 That's quite the build! Really nice paint work......... I also like that you used the factory wheels..... 1 1
espo Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Amazing looking paint treatment. Like how you are able to adjust the ride height for display. The chrome trim all looks cleanly done. Funny how the stock wheel cover option looks like a specialty wheel on this. 1
Spottedlaurel Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Wow, that's rather impressive! Very neat how you carried the paintwork through onto the dashboard. 1
NOBLNG Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Now THAT is one fabulous paint job!? And some real nice engineering on the suspension…well done all around!! 1
Yeah Nah Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Fantastic job on that intricate paint! I like the way you've extended the graphics over the top of the dash. 1
6bblbird Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 I've been building model cars for over 60 years and I can't come even close to painting like that! Awesome! ( maybe in another 60) 1
karbuildr Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Wow, that's an incredible paint job. Beautiful, just exceptional. Excellent engineering for the suspension, and I definitely like the factory wheels. 1
Dan Hay Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Outstanding paint! Does the suspension lock in place at a particular pose?
Street Rod Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Fantastic! Great paint work! The adjustable suspension is a really cool idea. 1
s10chevypu Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Really nice looking 70 chevy. I love the paint job on it. 1

Awesome! ( maybe in another 60) Thanks! Believe me, my other paintjobs don't even come close. All you need is, devote it some extra planning time, masking tape cutting time, masking time, cursing time never forgetting a light coat of clear after a new layer of masking... a very rewarding thing to do.

David G. Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Gorgeous paint! Nice build too, I like the adjustable ride height. David G. 1
Slotto Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Outstanding paint. I love how you continue the pattern onto the dash 1
Jonathan Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Oh, wow! That is impressive! I agree with others - carrying through with the dash is cool. 1
