MPC Gangbusters 32 Chrysler Imperial 8

I can't say I enjoyed building this model, but I'm happy with the results. Round2 brought back this old kit with the motorcycle and gangster options. I passed on those, but the rest looks OK. Typical sixties MPC issues, with fiddly chrome, vague locations for parts, etc. I'll never understand how kids finished them years ago. I added a missing upper radiator hose and the rumble seat does not work, it's either open or closed. The golf bag hatch on the side will open, I just didn't take a picture. Anyway, last build for the year, that makes fifteen.

Tamiya Gloss black and Alclad II chrome for the wheels

I used Tamiya gloss aluminum for the silver. Masked with bare metal foil. The newest it terrible! leaves residue behind! Ugh!

Guess that's it! Thanks!

Despite the typical MPC issues from this era, you did a great job on this build. Very attractive in silver and black, and your engine looks great as well.

Thanks!

That finish is excellent! Beautiful car.

I plan to do the gangster version as I don't want to attempt a perfect paint job like yours but the overall model looks like a lot of work.

Thanks!  i look forward to seeing your gangster version!

Beautifully done Tim , looks great in silver and black !  I built a couple of these when they first came out . . . I was maybe 14 or 15 and yes they were a challenge but maybe we didn't know any better .

Thank you! I built a few models above my ability when I was young too. More glue fixes everything!

Beautiful model Tim! I hear what you're saying about how on earth kids got them together back in the day. Glad my old man wasn't Homer Simpson: "Bart, if something's too difficult then it's not worth doing.''

Thanks! Good old Homer, such an inspiration!

Very nice! Great colors. The chrome wheels look sharp! Thanks for sharing the pic's.

Thank you! First time using Alclad II chrome, and it turned out better than I expected.

Nice build.  They were really Big cars back in the day.  No way one of these cars would fit in a modern day garage.  Really nice looking.

Thanks! Yeah, truly big cars! I have several 1/24 20s-30s luxury cars from the Mints and none fit in the standard plastic display cases.
