Hi Gents,

Wondering if there are wheels that you would like to see replicated in scale, style doesn't matter, factory stock, custom....

Please when answering also include a photo.

Thanks!

I’d love to see someone make sets of these in a big/little combo maybe 15x4 and 15x8 or 10

Centerline Warrior and Centerline Telstar are probably 2 of my favorite designs in wheels.

Thanks for asking, Luc... I don't mind if I do!

Two for the 2015-2023 Dodge Challenger (now that Diolex Productions is offering parts to update the AMT kit).

And one for a Dodge Durango Pursuit.

At the top of the list would probably be these Lyons aftermarket wheel covers.  They were a common sight on vintage rods and customs, but I don't think I've ever seen it reproduced in either styrene or resin.

Some bent spoke Kelsey Hayes wires would be nice, especially if they are compatible with the tires on Revell's recent Model A kits.

Yes, some NICE Kelseys would be great. The ones in the Revell '32 sedan are pretty bad, if that's what they are supposed to be.

In general, there are a lot of new wheel choices with 3D print parts makers.  It seems as though some of these guys specialize in one or two areas once they get up and running.  For many, it's wheels/tires and engines.  My 3D print purchases have been limited to these categories for the most part.  No bodies yet; most of what I have seen still don't look quite right to my eyes.  Besides, I've got too much stuff already.  There are one or two subjects that I will step up for however, should I see ones that "look right".

That said, anyone looking to do aftermarket wheels should look at early custom and rod items like the Lyon caps shown further up the thread.  I'd like to see a set of 14" or 15" balloon tire rims from the Thirties.  I don't think you could go wrong offering the "Divco" wheels (high clearance wheels, Divco never really used them but that's what they are commonly called anyway).

There are still some stock items that haven't been done too.  I'd be looking at dog dish caps, also at the '60-'64 Ford 15" wheel covers which were actually '56 Mercury covers with a different center piece.

Like Mark mentioned, those balloon tires and wheels with in-scale spokes would be very nice.

Of course more conventional spoked wheels and tires would also be most welcome.  Most kit's tires have thick crude spokes, and tires with no  or really crude tread pattern.

I mentioned tires too, becasue those are also sorely lacking in most models.  Kit tires are often wrong size, have incorrect shape, or have very poor sidewall and tread details.  When we take the time to create (likely 3-D printed) better wheels, we will need better tires to complement the wheels.  That will greatly improve our models.

Also, it would be nice to have them available in more than just 1:24/25 scale.  For example  1:32 scale or larger scales.  Again, if these are to be 3-D printed, resizing the CAD drawing to print them in multiple sizes should be easy.

Are you looking at making wheels and offering them for sale? Or are you making files for 3d printing?

Anyway, there are two I'm on the hunt for right now.

First are the factory hubcaps for an AMC Matador.

Second are the wheels for a new Ford F150 Lightning.

I would like to see more Cragar wheels in big and littles and deep dish and standards.  I get tired of seeing the same old wheels in kits and the wrong ones

I used to think of this all the time, but now that we've been asked, I can't come up with much.  ?

For certain projects I needed particular wheels.  It's one reason many of my projects drag on for too long.  I think I used to grumble that the heavy truck kits tended to have fancy wheels and not the common painted 5-hole steel wheels.  The release of the Moebius one-ton Ford trucks will fill a big hole with their wheel/tire combo.  I'm sure they'll find their way under custom car haulers.

For a more recent project I was looking for 1:24 scale 15" Halibrand kidney bean wheels.  I settled for the ones from Monogram's '57 Chevy snap kit, though they appear to be modern interpretations of the classic design, in larger diameter along with lower-profile tires.

This style wheel for the 1/24 Monogram Packards:

...I forgot to show the sidemounted wheels with this disc wheel.

Just curious.

That's disappointing. I thought you might be taking a survey for possible products.

There are people in the industry who watch the board, so not all is lost ?

These disc wheels are in the Italeri Phantom II kit, but it would be nice if the aftermarket offered them in resin for the Monogram kits.

Thanks fer the reminder. I need a set of those for a shelved project.   :D

Common period performance wheels in 13" and 14" sizes. Revolution Four Spokes, Aluminum five-slot, Minilites, etc. Accurate steelies in these sizes are also needed.

Appropriate period tires (with accurate sidewall text) to fit these wheels are also desperately needed.

Stock, Super Stock, Modified Production drag slicks from the 60's era. Some Cheater slicks and regular pie-crust slicks ranging from 7.50 to 9.00 x 15. Must have sidewall detail: M&H, Firestone, and others - Goodyear maybe (?). Also, some of the earlier Indy-roadster wheels and tires, similar to the ones in the Monogram Indy Roadster kit only a bit wider.

Maybe it's because I've been working on a few 90s-era builds, but I miss things like this...

And I've saved a set of these from the 90s issues Buick GSX kit, I've been hoarding them like a goblin for just the right project.

Having new wheels like this cast/printed/molded in more appropriate era-specific sizes (15" or 16"...remember when a 17" wheel was HUGE?) would be a big bonus. I've seen a few similar designs in the aftermarket, but they all seem to be in the 18"-20" diameter range, which (to me) looks out of place on a 1990s build.

Just my two copper.
