I suspect there will be additional versions of the Demon and Duster coming...

Pro Stocks are a no-brainer, but the rivet counters will lose their minds.

Hope the '72 Demon, IMHO styling wise a bit better, performance-wise I dunno, what can I say I vote with my eyes ;)

'64 Olds Cutlass AWB Streaker funny car.

Thanks for the info. Wishful thinking on my part for the Magnum.

@SteveG here's a suggestion for Round2, a '72 Duster Twister I saw at the Greenfield Village Motor Muster this Summer:

Round 2 did include Demon "Sizzler" decals with their '71, which was an equivalent package. I would not be surprised if Round 2 juiced the '72 Duster release with Twister graphics!

We already have 71s, 72s and 75/76s. What about a 70 and a 73 ?

Duster is a nice surprise, the coronet 500 seems like it might be a little late with the moebius coronets out now.

Coronet 500 is a snap kit around for several years I've built it and looks great when done. Moebius is now another option but the more kits - the better.

Not sure if there is much difference between the ‘70 and ‘71 Dusters.  What I suspect will be coming eventually might be Pro Stock versions of the Demon and Duster…those might be popular…

Hopefully the decals are better this time around. Besides, their Sizzler offering was incomplete ; that centre blackout is a PITA to accomplish with paint !

Certainly a 1970 would be sweet ! The '71 is close, but there are more ,and  less obvious differences between a '70 and a '71 : different upholstery pattern / door cards ; different stripes for the 340 model ; different trunk lid (smooth vs. the 'recall' lid -- oddly, the c.1998 ad seq. AMT '71 Duster kits have the 1970 trunk lid) ; AVS carburetor; different right-side exhaust manifold; NO chrome/bright exhaust tips.

As far as a '73 is concerned ; @Can-Con exhibited his (sweet) build of the original MPC annual. I'd be keen on a new '73-'76 Duster, but, as the saying goes : "Wish in one hand, and..."

I hadn’t heard about a trunk lid recall.  Can you provide more info, or a link?

Thanks!

I don't think there was a recall, but the original 1970 Duster trunk lid was a uniform surface all the way across (vs. the redesigned lid with a vertical peak stamped into the trunk from the forward to rear edges).

The original lid was subject to being bent by customers pushing down on it to close it.  Addng the peak put enough extra rigidiity in the lld to avoid any customer--imposed damage.

I can't recall for sure if this was a running change late in the 1970 model year (unlikely), at the 1971 Job 1, or sometime during the 1971 model year (most likely if my dim recollection is correct).

John or anyone else with more definitive info,, please feel free to update or correct the above...TB

I looked over my go-to resource ( The 1970 Hamtramck Registry Library Page (1970 - 1974) (hamtramck-historical.com) ) ) and I couldn't find anything definitive insofar as TSB's / recalls.

I only have anecdotal evidence ; early "smooth" lid (1970 model pictured , dated 09/1969 , likely a finalised prototype) , and the 'later' "ridged" lid (file photo) .

Ford did something like that with the Fox body Mustang, the first year ‘79 notchback deck lid is flat across the edge crease, in ‘80 they went to a deck lid that curves up and across at the edge to make it stronger.   Discovered that factoid just in the last year (my first Mustang was an ‘86 LX notchback).

I did not know that.  My '79 Chia 5.0 TRX notchback was ordered in early August 1978 and delivered (IIRC) early October.  It was one of the first ones off the line  Do not recall ever having an issue with the trunk lid.  Cool info anyway...thx for posting Rob.  TB
