bobthehobbyguy Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Any time frame for when the forum changes will be taking place?
Firebuilder Posted September 10 Posted September 10 A category for fire apparatus and emergency vehicles, ambulances police cars etc., would be nice. Fire apparatus does not really fit with big rigs and heavy equipment. ( my personal opinion) thanks 1

For example, before the last big forum reshuffle, there was a sub-forum dedicated to just large-scale models. As we were told, due to low number of posts, it was merged into other sub-forums. Same with motorcycles. It would be nice to have separate sub-forum, but there isn't isn't enough activity to warrant this. 1
Andrew McD Posted Friday at 12:52 PM Posted Friday at 12:52 PM The forum seems to function just fine as it is. I am left wondering why you are contemplating changes? One of my pet peeves is the frequent changes that are made to software applications that function and meet my needs. All too often these changes seem to be made with a "because we can" attitude rather than fixing something that doesn't work. While there are many things in life that can benefit from adjustments and changes this forum, in my opinion, isn't one of them. 4
bobthehobbyguy Posted Friday at 05:27 PM Posted Friday at 05:27 PM The categories are fine. If people embrace tags there would be no need to make new catagories.

Same with motorcycles. It would be nice to have separate sub-forum, but there isn't isn't enough activity to warrant this. Out of curiosity, I just looked into this. I just checked the first three pages of the sub-forums, looking for anything related to emergency vehicles. Here's what I found. Works in progress: Model cars - 1 Trucks, SUV, light commercial - 2 Big Rigs - 2 Under Glass: Model cars - 1 Trucks, SUV, light commercial - 2 Big Rigs - 2 That number roughly doubles if we include tow trucks. And some of those threads were started many, many months ago, in one case a thread is a couple of years old. It only moves forward if somone comments. Personally, I don't think that's enough activity to justify a seperate forum. But we will be discussing this and all the other sub-forum division ideas in our next Zoom meeting. After getting into some of the higher level and backstage issues, we're almost ready to start getting into the nitty gritty of these ideas, the ones that people will actually notice. I'm not picking on you or the idea. Like we've said, we want to hear all of your ideas, and we're considering and discussing all of the suggestions. This is just one example that shows some of the things we look at. We could deep dive some of these ideas and get into things like the number of threads, thread start date, number of posts within each thread, number of participants in each thread, etc. There will be at least one additional sub-forum added. Plus, some clarification and renaming in some sub-forums. 1 1

peteski Posted Sunday at 03:35 PM Posted Sunday at 03:35 PM Regardless with how many sub-forums we have there is also the fact that many threads are started in the wrong forum. For example, take the "Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions" section. The forum's sub-section description clearly states"Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions. This is for news and discussion about the magazine. We will be posting news and announcements, and you are welcome to ask questions. As always, please be respectful." Just on the 1st page, 9 threads were moved to more appropriate sections, and 10 more moved on the 2nd page. If you look further, more thread moves are there. If you look at all the moved threads, they have nothing to do with the clearly described purpose of that sub-forum. Members just either do not read or understand the description. Maybe MCM forum should go to the single stream of posts like the the Spotlight Hobbies forum. Yes, I'm joking. 1
Bugatti Fan Posted Monday at 08:28 AM Posted Monday at 08:28 AM Pete is right. Too many do not take the time to think about where their threads actually should be placed in the forum.
iamsuperdan Posted Monday at 03:54 PM Posted Monday at 03:54 PM Hey guess what? The first change has been made. Anyone catch it yet?

iamsuperdan Posted yesterday at 01:07 AM Posted yesterday at 01:07 AM Someone had previously asked about bringing back the "post preview" feature. Well good news. It never went away. Here's where you find it. 2

Thanks for pointing that out, never even thought to click on that to see what it does 😄 I find that very useful to double check that my text and images are in the correct order.

Ditto - I thought that button was some kind of page enlargement thing, since it is right next to the "Size" word. Sheer force of habit on my part, I've always used keyboard shortcuts to enlarge/reduce web pages.
