Casey Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 (edited) MPC 920: New box art, some RWL tires, and possibly some "new" decals, but very similar to the two previous Round2 reissues: Edited May 29, 2019 by Casey
Bob Ellis Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Since it has a 440, it is a "Roadrunner GTX" should have a decal for the trunk lid.
1972coronet Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Finally ! No Dukes embellishments , no $500 collectors'-edition-tin-with-a-lithographed-on-a-pinhead-Declaration-of-Independence , and no eBay prices !
Kmb0319 Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 OH YEAH!!!! I’ve been waiting five years hoping to see this re-released. This was my high school and first three years of college car. I actually don’t know if I’ll build an exact replica of mine or just go with the best looking version I like when checking research pics, but this one is a must! I’ll definitely kitbash the 71 Charger, too.
Joe Handley Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 I'm surprised Round 2 didn't try to get Counting Cars or Count's Customs licensing on this kit. Danny Koker has a thing for these cars and has built a couple these Plymouths for himself.
john66 Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 (edited) I NEED one, had a '73 RR off the showroom floor, gold with white stripe, had a 360 and a slapstick auto. Made in Canada. Where do I get one?????---John Edited May 30, 2019 by john66 add photo

The MPC 920 issue has not yet been released, and probably won't be available for a few more months, but older versions of the same basic kit can be found on eBay for a reasonable cost if you don't wish to wait.

Avoid pre-Round 2 reissues; they don't have stock decals or wheels, and most will have an incorrect instrument panel and single-exhaust chassis.

Casey Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Looks like a set of Goodyear L60-15 Polyglas GT tires are included...: ...and the decal sheet appears to be unchanged from the previous reissue?:
Dave Van Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I'll pick up a few........that body style ran NASCAR Cup series.......may have to build one.

If I remember right my early models the ones with the incorrect dash and incorrect chassis did not have Roadrunner decals. I know the tin box had them. I just cannot tell from the pictures

I just cannot tell from the pictures Looks like I see a little 'bird on the white stripes. I think they have the Warner Bros. license - the box spells out "Road Runner" in two words, and, Round 2 had issued the Road Runner cartoon kits (with character figures), as well as the tin edition of this kit with a Road Runner figure recently. The great thing is: each of these comes with decals for two other cars, so, we'll have spares for all of the other older releases that never had them.

Actually now that you pointed it out my 62 year old eyes see the cartoon on the white stripe!
stavanzer Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 So. This is the Daisy Duke kit, in its entirety, Tires, Decals and all, with only the boxart changed? Sharp Marketing, on Round2s part. Minimal Investment, Brand New kit. It helps that the Daisy Duke version has been off the market for a couple of years. So, to the average H.L./Michaels shopper, it IS a brand new kit. Good Job, Round2 I may get one just for the decals and tires.

It was also released in a collector's tin style packing as a "plain jane" '74 Roadrunner in 2012 (the DoH kit was released back in 2009). I would doubt at the time the tin was sold at H.L., and the 7-9 yr point is the traditional cycle of kit reissues.

Good Job, Round2 I may get one just for the decals and tires. As stated, the Dukes of Hazzard kit had the correct exhaust/chassis and dash. It also had the factory stock Roadrunner stripes, except WITHOUT the Warner Brothers bird. Apparently Round 2 didn't want to pay for the rights for the cartoon Roadrunner, in addition to the DOH royalty. Seems weird since both are WB properties. I seem to recall the only difference with the tin box version that was issued right after the DOH version is that the decals did have the bird. However, you had to pay quite a bit more for that version, which was pretty irritating at the time.
