Irvin Arter Jr. Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I got this original AMT 1968 Impala Custom (it’s really a 67) from MJ. It was used and Mike repainted it with Boyds orange pearl before I got it so I left it alone. I foiled it, painted the original custom interior and added aftermarket wheels and brakes. I added a Revell 69 Camaro front spoiler, aluminum exhaust tips, photo etch “SS†on the grill and Impala’s on the rear roof. It is a curbside so no motor. After I shot the photos I realized the rear bumper slipped down so I will have to re epoxy it. Enjoy!
Mr. Metallic Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 But the 3rd pic isn't showing. You left the space in the html between the "bracket" and the "img" Why does Fotki do that? It's such a pain to constantly remove it. Nice Impala. Love the color and the custom roof treatment.Kind of a big blind spot though, lol. Nice as always
Luis Ayala Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Just BEAUTIFULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :!: :!:
paulcolt Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!!!! Love that car! Are you keeping the Box???? If not contact me PLEASE.
Steve H. Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Oooooohhhhh... Thats nice! Yeah, That rear roof treatment is... Ummm... Enthusiastic bodywork!
bob paeth Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 For those who wonder about the rear window treatment, I do too ! This was supposed to be a "cool" custom idea that AMT came up with. I remember cutting the window open in the first one that I built. Bob
Daniel Peterson Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Unusual? Uh, yeah, it is. I really like the stock version of this car to start with, but this treatment is sweet! Nice work, Irv!
Zoom Zoom Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Aw ######. I always hated this model because it wasn't stock. Now I see this, and I have to have one too. It's gorgeous. It's all your fault
bsoder Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Great looking car..I wondered about the "rear view" but it's a show car right ....B
cruz Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 You will always be one of my idols Irv, that thing is gorgeuos man, nice rake and rim choice not to mention color
BIGTRUCK Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Aw ######. I always hated this model because it wasn't stock. Now I see this, and I have to have one too. It's gorgeous. It's all your fault Your right on this one Bob, I just turned down a builder before Christmas...Irv thats just plain super sharp!!!!!!!!!!!!
mhadman Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I am not into customs for the most part, but this build is very sharp....I would tool around in a car like that...NICE work!!
ScrappyJ Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 That has got to be one of the smoothest builds I've seen! SWEET!
kelson Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 simply stunning ! love the in the weeds stance!! bravo!!!
Bob Ellis Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I found this kit on a store shelf in 1973 along with the MPC 1968s. I left the sealed AMT and bought the MPCs. Your build is beautiful and makes me think differently now.
Can-Con Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Looks cool Irv. I've always liked the look of that car. If I could find a copy of the front and rear custom parts I'd do one with the newer kit. Looks to me that the older kits got the lines of the rear 1/4s more correct than the new one though.
geetee66 Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 A real head-turner!Very sleek and beautifully built.I like seeing the custom versions built up. It makes a nice change. The long, flowing lines make those big rims look right at home .
espo Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 I really like how this looks and the color is outstanding.
DumpyDan Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Wow that is so smooth, looks great, awesome color
