charlie8575 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 OMG! What a beauty! In a world of base-hits, this is a Grand Slam Home Run!! I just can't wait. I just can't wait. Holy mackerel, I just can't wait! Thank you Dave Metzner and Moebius! Thank you! With the other baseball references, it's more appropriate to quote the great Phil Rizzouto, "Holy cow, it's a hit!" Wow, what nice tool. Having been around Hudsons enough, I can tell all of this with confidence- this car IS right. Charlie Larkin
Harry P. Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Been groking the Moebius Hudson Hornet kit for the past hour or so, since the mailman dropped it off here! OMIGAWD! I am in love with this one! So much to like, even from test shots! More later, pics will follow as soon as camera batteries charge up! Art There's nothing like an early Christmas present!
Foxer Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 WOW! The detail on that is amazing! I wonder who will detail INSIDE the bell housing first?
Dr. Cranky Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Oh my, my jaw has fallen to the floor . . . amazing!!!! This is going to be one of those kits where a dozen will just not be enough!
ra7c7er Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Just went on my list. Car looks great. the neighbor to some property my stepdad owns is restoring a Hudson. Maybe instead of using the real car to use as reference for the model I should give him the model for reference for the real car. BTW those solid white wheels rock. I want a set.
spkgibson Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 How come you guys are so lucky to get test shots of these kits, I want one to! Lets see some photos ART!
mikelo Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Wow, this looks truely beautiful! I cant wait for it to come out. I find it ironic I had just been asked to work up some ideas for a full size custom one. I cant get over the detail I'm seeing already. Thanks for the pics! Mike
imatt88 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Wow, A Hudson Hornet...Cool. What kind of prices are we talking here? Cheers, Ian
Joe Handley Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Who cares what the price is, it's a Hudson Hornet in styrene!
Guest Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Looks like a pretty well engineered kit. Is it stock only or are there going to be custom parts available also?
bigphoto Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 My step dad used to race Hornets for Ambrose Brother salvage yard and they also owned the old Speedrome in Grand Rapids MI. So now I will be able to build a replica of his car!!
David G. Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Where, When and How Much? Nevermind "how much," where and when? I would only hope that my skills are worthy.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I've already made up my mind that I will get a dozen of these and spend a year building them all in a row!
Chuck Most Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Been groking the Moebius Hudson Hornet kit for the past hour or so, since the mailman dropped it off here! OMIGAWD! I am in love with this one! So much to like, even from test shots! More later, pics will follow as soon as camera batteries charge up! Art I'll pay you a thousand bucks for it! (The kit, not the camera batteries.)
MrObsessive Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Bart, your link to the pic wasn't working properly------here's the Hudson........very nice! While this car is before my time I'd like to get one of these kits.............gotta love that body shape!
Dr. Cranky Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Ehobbies is going to carry it a lot cheaper than the rest the competition, at 22.99 or something like that instead of the 28.99.
Jon Cole Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Ohhh.... Jonny's buying a few of these! There is a blue one a few towns over. Want a replica!
Aaronw Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Who cares what the price is, it's a Hudson Hornet in styrene! Tower is showing them as expected early 2011 at just under $22.
juergen Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 WHOW !!! It´s a great kit !!! It´s right the kit expected early 2011 ??? I hope for shipping to austria too ??? greets juergen
george 53 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Actually, if they put the SAME amount of effort into the new Chrysler they got comimg out, they'll have some real competition for the 'Little Two" (Revell and AMT/ERTL). I understand that just these two items won't make GREAT changes in the industry, but maybe it'll make the other guys start to makeing the more 'off the wall" types of kits. i mean, really, who'da ever THOUGHT that we'd get a Hudson Hornet????
Art Anderson Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 How come you guys are so lucky to get test shots of these kits, I want one to! Lets see some photos ART! Easy answer! Bill Coulter and I have been helping with this project from the very beginning, at the invitation of both Dave, and Frank Winspur (principal owner of Moebius Models). This began with our being asked to come up with short lists of potential model car subjects, to reviewing the tooling mockups and suggesting changes, to what we are now doing, which is reviewing the test shots. Sean Svenson is the guy doing the box art model, so he has to do that from test shots, in order for all of this to come together, together, and in a timely fashion. Working with test shots of a new kit isn't all just fun, it gets very tedious, as any test shot is from a brand new tool, done for the purpose of seeing how it all comes together, and finding stuff that needs correcting, noting those issues, pointing them out to the toolmakers. As such, it can take almost as long to work with test shots that won't be painted and detailed, as it would were we building and finishing out a production kit. It's just a very necessary step in helping bring a new model kit to market. Art
Guest Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Will this kit come with options or stock only?? I can see a lot of customs being built with this kit.
charlie8575 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 i'm not trying to pick at it by asking the question of the front of the hood and grille, it just looks pushed back to me. the earlier mock-up before the test shots don't have that appearance so it makes me wonder if something happened along the way somehow? maybe it's just the photography playing tricks? I was wondering what people were talking about exactly, so I went back and took a look. Dave- I think a lot of it is lighting, but I can't say for certain. I can say, though, that Art pointed out these are still the first shots and some minor revisions to the tool may still take place. If that's the case, and if that extra ridge on the hood is in fact there, I'm sure it'll be addressed. And if not, it looks like a pretty easy fix with a little putty and some plastic. Regardless of that one error (assuming it's there,) I'm still buying a whole bunch. The rest of this kit is so well-done from the looks of it that I am more than willing to forgive a comparitively minor error to get a model I've been waiting for since I was in high school.
