What European automotive subjects would YOU like the see as a 1/24 scale kit?

Harold, don't forget the Robin Jeremy Clarkson had on it's side as much as it was on it's wheels, either! ;)B)

Yeah, Jeremy loves to shred tires, doesn't he? The episode I saw last night, the rear tires on his Mercedes were scrap after 35 miles of sideways driving.

  • 5 years later...

(All in 1/24 -1/25 scale)

Citroen Ami-6

Citroen Dyan

Peugeot 402 (Eclipse)

60's Ford Cortinas (non-Lotus, just your average family knock-about)

50's/60's Ford Zodiac/Zepher

BMW 2002  (This one is BEGGING to be tooled!)

Triumph Herald

60's Vauxhall Viva

50's/60's Vauxhall Victor

ANY Eastern Bloc car, Tatra 603, ZIL 111 etc., etc., etc.  Have a plastic toy of a Chiaka Packard knock-off.......

I know it's not European, but I for 1 would like to see a '64-'70 Toyota Corona. Highly popular in Japan and here in the States.

Surprised none of the Japanese companies haven't jumped on it yet....

Living in the province of Alberta here.

As far as modern European cars go, I would love to see someone do the Peugeot Onyx concept car.     European supercars are always welcome, and seeing how Ferrari Lamborghini, and now Panoz are now available in kit form, how about a Koenigsegg?

As far as postwar classics go,  At the top of my list would be the Citroen SM, and the Lamborghini Espada.   Airfix did a 1-32 Maserati Ghibli way back when, and it would be nice to see a 1/24 version.. A ZiL limousine would made a nice companion to Trumpeter's Red Flag limo.

For prewar classics, Heller covered most of my want list,  but a Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic coupe would be well received, I think.  Likewise, the swoopy cre4ations of Figoni and Falaschi haven't gotten any love from the kitmakers.  Heller already made kits of the Delage, Delahaye and Talbot-Lago, and it would be nice to see a version with Figoni and Falaschi coachwork.   The 1913 Vauxhall Prince Henry is another 1/32 Airfix kit that I would like to see in 1/24, along with the original Rolls Royce Silver Ghost.  It would also be nice to see some of the pioneering autos in 1/24, like the 1886 Benz and Daimler, an 1891 Panhard, or even the 1770 Cugnot.

For more humble offerings, how about a Citroen Ami or Dyane to go with the 2CV kits that are already out there?  A stock Topolino would be nice, as would a Morris Minor?  There have been Ford Capri kits in the past, but a new kit, or even a reissue would be welcome, I think.

As far as racing goes, a D-type Jaguar would be welcome, or even a re-release of Revell's XKSS.  I'd liek to see more front engined Grand Prix cars along the lines of Heller's excellent Talbot-Lago    I would like to see the Auto Union racers available in 1/24, along with the Mercedes-Benz "Silver Arrows"

There are so many!

Volkswagen Jetta - any year

Volkswagen T3 (Vanagon) or newer van/doka

BMW - anything not a Z3 or Z4! Maybe an M5 newer than 2000, the 2002tii

Audi - anything other than an R8!

Volvo - more wagons!

Ford - Sierra Cosworth, Transit van, Capri, Lotus Cortina

Porsche - more road cars, including Panamera and Cayenne

I'm in there with most of Richard's prewar classics, especially the Talbot-Lago teardrop coupe, but I'd prefer 1:16 or 1:12 scale. The Bugatti Atlantic is available in a 1:24 Bburago kit version of their prebuilt diecast, but it's pretty simplistic and needs lots of  "accurizing." Best approach here is to put the Atlantic body on the Franklin Mint Atalante diecast (both have the same wheelbase).

Prefer 1/25th. But 1/25th or 1/24th, I'm still waiting for a Mk I Ford (Mercury here) Capri. I still don't understand how this one has been missed over years?

Already been done.

It wasn't missed. It's Euro spec, so there are more than a few differences from the US model. It doesn't have the hood "power bulge"; only cars with a certain size engine or larger (2.3L?) got it in Europe, but all US models did. There are many other differences between this kit and the 1973 Capri I had. I'm considering converting mine to US spec (head and tail lights, grille, quarter panel trim, power bulge for starters). It is also motorized, This kit is Doyusha NH-18.

Still hoping and wishing for a couple of 'em..........

1963-71 Mercedes Benz SL series "Pagoda Roof"

1961-72 Volvo P1800 either twin SU carbed or fuelie versions.

I have both of these actually, one resin and one diecast in 1/24-25 scale. It sure would be nice though to see these done in full detail plastic. Why they've been ignored is anyone's guess. John mentioned the Facel Vega.........ANY of those would be terrific to see especially the Chrysler powered coupes!

I'm from Austin, Texas and we see a lot of European cars here driven by hipsters. For me, off the top of my head, I would like to see kits of most anything European priced affordably for US consumers. Also something other than the same old Ferraris, as much as I like them. Maybe a Barchetta? How about a series of the Panamericana racers?

I would love to see a Turbo Brick Volvo 242 in sedan and wagon forms and maybe even Fujimi's old 740 or Tamiya's Volvo wagon in stock form. A rally Saab 92 would be nice. A pre-Cobra AC Ace. A kit of the VW 411, a 2nd gen Van, and a re-release of Revell's Vanagon. A Capri would definitely be appreciated in optional American trim, as would a good BMW 2002 and some generations of the 3 and 5 Series.

Fujimi have already kitted a Barchetta, Gary.
