Yesterday I got a Pep Boys Rewards certificate for $20 in the mail. No doubt for the pair of tires I had put on the Breeze a while back, but $20 I didn't have, so it's cool!

And what did I do with that money? I got three cans of Duplicolor grey primer / sealer... yea I'm probably set for the rest of the year. The primer was only $5.99 a can (so quit your whining that it's too expensive to use!) and I needed some rubber gasket cement since the door gasket on my two 1:1 cars is loose, so I got that for $3.99 too. Grand purchase was $23.28 including tax, so I paid $3.28 out of pocket. That means the primer was free!

I did need a very light gray Duplicolor paint for my current project, but nothing close there. They had tons of silvers, all with metallic, but no gray at all. Guess that's not a popular color on new cars. That makes for a good excuse to hit the hobby shop today to see what Tamiya offers. And there is a Sonic right near the hobby shop! Lunch anyone?

Got a Revell "Miss Deal" kit from the bay. Bought it SPECIFICALLY to get the Chrysler 392 FirePower engine (for a commissioned historic top-fuel build), one of the best versions of this engine ever done in any kit, and when I opened the box, guess what? NO ENGINE BLOCK. Parts 1,2 and 3 gone, gone, gone. VERY obvious to anyone with eyes. The kit was listed as "NEW in opened box", by a seller with 100% positive rating, and "plastic" and "cars" in his handle. Seemed like it would be a good bet.

Opened a case. We'll see.

The honesty and integrity is going away in this country, people will do anything to make a buck.

Bill- When I built mine, I had opened a second kit for parts. I do intend to use the chassis under something someday, but I wouldn't put the same engine in two builds... so if you get stuck, I'd be happy to send you those parts. PM me

So, I get an email from a gentleman who got my info off the club website. He has some old models that he would like to get rid of. The wife said clean the shed and he no longer builds. He tells me they are mostly parts and some old builds from when he was a kid in the 60's and if I don't take them, they will be going into the trash! As it turns out, it was the early 60's! It is a mixture of builds, parts and almost complete kits. Started going through it last night and this is what I have found so far. Will post more when I sorted it out better

I know! But, I guess he had his fun and he did not build anymore. But, he did keep a mint Revell Surf Fink, Monogram Little T and another kit I can seem to recall. Said he wanted to give them to his grandson and maybe build those with him. I was tempted to offer him some current re-issues in trade, but, I already got some good stuff, Why be greedy?

So, the guy turned out to be straight-up and offered (and already paid) a partial refund. Still, I'm short the parts I needed from this kit.

Ha Tom! Seeing how many cans of paint you got, I don't feel half bad.

I'm working on my own version of 50 Shades of Grey! I went to a not so LHS today and bought four different cans of grey to paint my Trabant Universal wagon. I do my test shots on the bottoms of the small bathroom cups I use for many other things in the model room. In the morning I'll check to see which one dries closest to the color I need. I'm hoping it's the Tamiya, just because it will be an easier paint job. Anyone else buy this much paint to select one color?

Going about a half hour west into the woods towards this hobby shop that has a good paint selection, I took the back roads to see more of Pennsylvania, and took the Tracker with the roof off. I promised my wife that if she came along, we'd try out Sonic, which we hadn't tried yet. Of course I wanted to eat in the open car. She wanted to take one of our every day cars... boring. So I told her I was going in the Tracker and she was welcome to come along! She came and I think she got the idea that it was a fun drive. She didn't complain any.

Sonic? Highly over rated.. tasteless. I had chili cheese dogs.. I don't know how they made them to have no flavor whatsoever! As we ate a cruise night materialized in the lot, so we got to walk around and check out some nice cars. Probably 30 cars showed up by the time we left and more were coming.

So we had a good afternoon drive!

Have amassed these over the past couple months. Didn't get two GN's, forgot I had it in a different picture. The yellow Z is missing body but otherwise complete. The NASCAR combo will be used mainly for bodies. Going to try to make a couple street cars out of them.

Corgi '65 Imperial convertible (missing the golf bag), Tekno Monza GT, and Corgi James Bond Aston Martin (missing two tires and the enemy agent). Had the Imperial when I was a kid and always wanted another.

I love Sonic, but just for the drinks. I stop every time I go by, but only get food maybe 1 out of 10 stops.

Danny, took 7 re-certs and passed them all :) keeps me master certified for a total of 20 years now. also have light diesel cert [although I don't really know jack about them, and don't work on them much, but had to have the cert for work].

Tom, I am a paint junkie, for color selection.....I usually get 2 cans of each color [just in case I need to put a body in the pond], and yes, I get several variations of color as well. never know when panzer gray is gonna click with a paint scheme :D
