Mail man dropped off both the 1mm and 2mm chrome pens. I ordered them off Amazon maybe 2 weeks ago and they arrived this afternoon . And the curious George that I am . I had to see what all the fuss was about.

I practiced on some spare sprues and realized you better be careful as it looks like on  the 2mm pen the paint gets thick in a hurry.  Then I did a windshield frame for my Munsters Koach and I swear  it looks like it came off the chrome tree. I then used the 1mm version on some molded in hood pins on a a couple cars and WOW . Very nice .

With that said only time will tell what it looks like in a year , or 5 , or 20 . But WOW, I'm impressed so far.

Has anyone cleared over it yet to ck the effects if any ?  I did a vent wing frame on a body that will get cleared here in the next few days . So maybe I'm the guinea pig ?????

Not sure why I couldn't leave comment.   Looks like a nice kit.   I picked up a Modelhaus built up last year.   I'd like to pull it apart and detail it

You can only use a water-based clear on the Molotow Liquid Chrome markers. I've brush-painted some Createx and Vallejo Clear over it and it worked fine. My next experiment will be to airbrush the Molotow (once I get my refill bottle that is!) and airbrushing the clear. Brush-painting the clear proved they are compatible, but brush marks in the clear kind of ruin the chrome!

Sounds like a good use for Future!

Only "new" thing at Hobby Lobby this week was the AMT 1/32 '65 Mustang fastback. Since I might never see another one, and since they didn't have anything else I don't already have three of, I bought it. $14 with the coupon! YIKES! wasn't that originally a 99c kit?

Also got a 1/24 diecast '70 El Camino SS at Walmart. Hadn't seen that before. Haven't played with it yet, but it looks fairly decent (for the price) in the box. We'll see.

One of my "Grail" kits has been the 32 Chev Panel by MPC from the 60s. On my build thread for the "Choped Phaeton" I had mentioned this and a few days later a fellow SPAM member dropped me a line that he had a partially built and painted version, or at least the important parts. In addition he also had two Cabriolet kits, one still in sealed bags!

The other night we had our meeting and Gord brought the kits for me... Boy, I'm pumped by this project. Plan is to build all three. The panel will be fairly straight forward with smooth fenders. The Cabriolets will be distinguished by one being an optioned up top version while the second will be open and a more sporty, stripped down version. Lacking a third chassis the plan includes scratchbuilding a frame for the sportster version. In addition there were a couple of extra wheel sets and an old AMT Deuce  chassis with molded in axle and exhaust. Also included were two spare tire cases from the 36 Ford which I suspect were being fitted to the fenders. Neat idea!

Thanks again Gord for the kits, anyone have an unbuilt Monogram Starbird Futurista out there?

Cheers Misha

The 2mm Molotow chrome pen came earlier in the week.

Still waiting on the 1mm.

The stock wheel covers for the '65 Mercury came yesterday.

Another reminder that with some patience, you can find pretty much any vintage part you may need.

Took me about a year and a half to find this set.

Pat, HRM is located in the USA. Red Frog Hobbies is his only current distributor but understand a new distributor is in the works.

Yikes indeed!  That's weird. I've been to 2 Hobby Lobbys in Upstate SC just recently.  One had the 1/32 Ranchero marked down for Clearance to $9.99.  Regular price was $14.99.  (Neither store had the Mustang fastback yet.)

If the 1/32 Mustang was $14 WITH the coupon, I wonder if that's a massive R2 price hike. Or maybe a glitch at the store.

The price on the sticker is $21.99. I haven't opened the box yet, nor taken the receipt out of the bag. If it turns out the price was wrong, I'll take it back for adjustment. Thanks for the heads-up. B)

Another one added to the stash, got the one molded in white, as it will be as a Belvedere and not Christine, also bought another "Used" Amt 57 Chrysler 300 for spares, as I really needed to replace the missing parts in the one I'm building, plus I'm having trouble chroming the front bumper, even though the rear one went ok, I might even use the air filters from the 300C on the Belvedere
