Got these from a nice older lady this afternoon and was told that there are about 30 more in storage to come my way!

http://

The dump truck and trailers are all still sealed and the tractor is unstarted.

Later-

Wish I had a nice older lady by me. :-)

I've had a Revell '69 Camaro (purchased at Wal-Mart on sale) on the shelf for some time, deciding what to do with it. Then I was inspired to build Dave Strickler's SS/C drag racer, with the help of Fred Cady.

Then I remembered Strickler also ran a '62 Impala 409 that was a terror on the strip. So I looked on Amazon and they had one! It was more than I wanted to pay for a kit, but would be cheaper than getting another Impala and buying Strickler decals.

While I was at it, I saw a Color Me Gone '64 Dodge which I also bought.

I think I am entering a Super Stock phase.

I remember having one of these "Visible Vans" as a kid.

If I recall correctly, it was a Ford Econoline.

Maybe late '60s or early 70s?

I waited twelve days for a package, sent via UPS, from Buffalo, NY to get to me in Brooklyn. I ordered a Johan Desoto Adventurer (a kit I've been looking to get at a reasonable price for a long time and finally got it) and two AMT '41 Plymouth Coupes. Well, the parcel arrived this afternoon at 5:46 P.M. Check this out:

Yeah, I got the package. It looked like it went through a shredder. The box was smashed and crushed with rips and tears along the corners. Two of the three kits were  damaged, the Desoto and the '41 Plymouth with the red car on the box. As you can see in the photos, both kit boxes were severely damaged, the lower right corner of the Desoto as seen from the top of the box and the upper left corner of the '41 Plymouth. The boxes are torn open and parts were falling out into the packing box. The Desoto's left tailfin is crushed and is missing the dash, steering wheel, both taillights and two tires and backs. The red car box Plymouth's window is cracked and broken, the hood, dashboard and right inner fender are missing and there is only one (1) stock Firestone tire. For all I know, all of the missing parts could have fallen out of the box. The holes in the packing box were large enough for the loose parts to have easily fallen through, as a result of all the abuse the package was subjected to by UPS. There are a few words I could use to describe this; but, let's just say it's not a pretty sight. These kits had the c_rap knocked out of them. I'm not happy at all about this. I've been trying to find an affordable Johan Desoto for the longest time; and, when I finally am lucky enough to get it, this kind of happy horsec_rap has to happen. :(

Yep those are cool too...me..Id like to find the workshop or ambulance ones.  I have a old glue bomb busted up I might be able to do something with but its missing the complete chassis and wheels and tires.   Its beyond rough.   If you like van kits and dont mind the large scale its one you need to get to do.   My grail of the van kits is MPCs 71-75 Dodge van and AMTs 70s Chevy mini motorhome van.

Looking at the box, the only thing the seller could have done to protect that was line it with plywood.

I would be having  a serious talk with the USPS if it were mine

I didn't get the kits off ebay and UPS is the culprit. When I drove linehaul for Con-Way Freight, UPS had terminals next to ours at a couple locations and I know how they mistreat parcels. I'm beyond disgusted.

What a mess. Sorry that happened to your order. Things like this should never happen. I have been pretty lucky. Hundreds of stuff ordered and only once did I get a mess as you just did. I hope you can get some relief from a claim. Good luck.

I agree. I'd file a complaint and if it is on a selling site. I'd notify the people running that site. Be it Ebay, Etsy or whoever. I had a similar thing happen with Ebay. I fought it with both Ebay and PayPal and won. But the people I bought it from lied through their teeth giving me a bad rating. And the odd thing it was a seller I've bought things from over the past.. Good luck.

I bought the kits from Fred Sterns. Fred is a standup guy who is well known throughout the hobby. I've bought many kits from him over the years and he always packs the kits well. This wasn't his fault. It's all on UPS, not USPS.
