...The box art model are completely different tires.

Well that bites a big one. The box art tires are perfect for a military vehicle I'm doing. Bugger.

Got a set of '63 Electra wheelcovers and started shaving the seven blades off each one to make them into base model covers for my '63 Riviera.

Or maybe if I have a lick of sense I'll modify ONE and cast it .

I like the Crosley! Who makes it? And what do you plan to do for an engine or chassis?

Altered States makes the body. As for chassis ??? Open for suggestions.

Chassis? Maybe AMT's Fiat dragster from their Double Dragster kit? That's got to be pretty close?

Scored a Modelhaus 68 Torino Coupe off eBay a short while ago. After a bit of research it appears to resemble a GT Coupe. Luckily I had a set original GT annual wheel covers, Amt Polyglas tires, Amt 66 Fairlane 390 and the leftover chassis from a Revell 70 Torino in my parts stash. And the chassis fits like a glove ?So I have the makings of a great little muscle car

Looks like typical Modelhaus stuff - beautiful even unbuilt. I like how they even retained the ejector pin marks on the interior tub...

Just received the following two items in today's mail.

One is the book, Here is Your Hobby... Model Car Building, by Bill Neumann. Published back in 1971. Our Junior High School library did have this book in their collection. But, it's still not the book(s) I'm thinking of. The book(s) I'm remembering, one had an article on building Parnelli Jones' '63 Mercury stock car. This for sure does not appear in this book. Yet I'm glad to get my hands on this old classic. It looks like it a lot good stuff in it. I bought it off of a vendor on Amazon for $60.00. It's not an ex library copy. And other than missing the dust jacket, it's in very good shape. Especially for a book that's been around almost 50 years now.

Second item I got is also almost 50 years old. At least according to the instructions from within the box. And that is an Entex copy of a 1/5 scale Wankle Rotary Engine. A kit I've wanted since I first saw it in an Auto World catalog back in the early 70's. I won  this on eBay over the weekend. It came of a seller within my area. So it got to me fast. It came unmolested, still wrapped in its original plastic. Opening it up, everything inside is in perfect shape. I can't ask for anything more. I even got it at a price I liked.

Interesting. My Entex Wankle engine kit has a slight variation I've never seen before. If you go on line and look at these kits, you'll see that they all seem to come with the transmission part of the kit prepainted. The one I just got, is not painted. Interesting. Not a major problem. I'm just wondering why?

Back in 2017, I put one of those Entex Wankel kits on eBay.  I found it a flea market cheap.

I put it up twice and it didn't get a single bid.  The third time was the charm and it sold for $26.00.

I don't know anything about the transmission differences, but it sure is a puzzler.

Nice classic.Mopar score!!

Thanks Carl. It's still sealed so I'm not sure what to expect. Hopefully no tire burn.

Hey Scott! I remember that book. When I was in seventh grade I was getting off the school bus and saw it just sitting on an empty seat. I grabbed it, took it home and read it over the weekend. I did have the evil thought that I could keep it, but being the little guy I was, I would have felt too guilty! So I took it back to the school library on Monday.

Boy! Posty Claus has been so generous to me lately. Look what she (yes, she) left me today! And here I thought I wasn't that good over this last.

One is the Entex Ford Turbine Engine. Still wrapped in its original plastic. I've been wanting one of these for at least 45 years now. There are the two other kits you see. Plus, two cans of Tamiya spray paint. (Posty Claus guessed that I was getting spray paint. And she warned me that I should not go around tagging things just because I'm off work. I warned her not keep that white van parked in front of my house for too long. It was too much or a temptation. I better be careful. Or Posty Claus may quit bringing me goodies to my house.)

Ahh! Ancient virgin plastic. Man is that cool. Time to sit down with the instructions and see what it's going to take to build this beauty.

Hey Carl, before you open it you should do a post where people can try to guess what color it's molded in. ?

I have an unopen one on my shelf too, along with an unopen Olds Starfire. IIRC, I paid $15 a peice for them a few years ago.?

Hi Scott - Those are the optional finned knockoff wheelcovers Buick offered on the Riviera and AMT used in the '63 kit; the base version was like I posted but without the seven blades (those were Electra-only):

I got one of them modified with a lot of very careful trimming and I'll be molding it tonight.
