I agree. I've used their replacement parts service quite a few times.

Plus they make some really great kits!

If given the choice between Revell or another company's kit of the same subject, I always prefer Revell.

I could not agree more. I have ordered replacement parts and decals and they shipped them to me at no cost. Not even shipping costs. I love Revell.

I have had mixed results dealing with Revell parts replacement service. I have received replacement parts from Revell that had the same problems as the original parts. Another time they have completely ignored my request. My most recent experience was right before Christmas last year when I bought Revell's 55 Chevy hardtop kit and found that it had a cracked windshield. If there is problem with a kit I usually return or exchange the kit. In this case it was the last one in the store so I couldn't exchange it and I really wanted this kit so I went to Revell's website to see about getting a replacement part. The website stated that in order to receive a replacement part you must mail to Revell customer service the original sales receipt, UPC code cutout from the box, photo copy of instruction sheet, with requested part circled. I mailed my request to Revell around January 1st and after 5 weeks they had not responded. Frustrated I sent another request via their online parts request service explaining to them that I have previously mailed my part request 5 weeks earlier and have not received the part. Then yesterday I opened mail box and found two little brown boxes from Revell. They sent me two windshields when I just requested one! Oh well I'll just have an extra for the parts box. If I ever need a replacement part again I am definitely requesting it online! I eventually get the part and I thank Revell for standing by their products.

During my recent 2010 Mustang GT build I completely misplaced the outside rearview mirrors. We are talking gone, zero, zip, nada on the search. I hit Revell up on their website and emailed a request for replacements. I owned up to my actions and said I'd pay for the parts and postage. I really didn't want to buy a kit just for the mirrors.

The replacements arrived today, no bill and postage paid by Revell.

Revell's service department really is a good place.

Thank you Revell.

G, I have to agree with you , I have always had great service with Revell, I messed up the body from the 2010 Camaro kit, and just like you, I owned up, said it was my fault, ask how much it would be to replace just the body, got a reply saying thank you for the honesty, and in this case we will send you a replacement body.

I screwed up a few decals on one of their kits. Called up the 800 number, I was sent a few sheets. That was almost 20 years ago. Good to hear they are still at that level of paying attention to the customer, wish more companies would be that attentive now of days.

Just got some parts that were missing from a kit in the mail today myself. Shot them a request early last week and they're here today. As mentioned before....great service.

I have never used there customer service but am glad to hear this and believe they are really trying to give us modelers good service and quality models. (5.0 Mustang hopefully the exception and not the rule.)

Revell has always had a good parts replacement policy. On current kits.

3 months ago I got a kit off of EvilBay. A 1930 Ford Model A Coupe. Missing one tire. Wrote three months ago and nada. Don't blame Revell. It's an older kit. Just thought I'd try.

Also have good things to say about Revell. Ordered some parts for an older kit thinking they wouldn't have them anymore. Got an e-mail today saying they were on the way. Great customer service.

is revell germany also this great?..

i need some 1/12 Shelby discbrakes...have got the kit itself but i don't want to destroy it just for that....

It is :D

Write an email to departmentx@revell.de, explain what you need and why, and they will send you up to 5 pieces absolutely free. This goes for current kits only, however... They might not be able to help you if the kit is long out of production.

I have to agree. Revell is a great company for how they handle replacement parts. I was building a charger and the windows where misshapen and had corners missing. Emailed them and within no time had a full tree replacement.

Yup I think they have great customer service, I just found out, I bought a Revell of Germany 1/16th scale Kafer and my body seemed warped to me so i dipped it in boiling water to try to straighten it , but it melted real bad, and as you can see on the left body i tried to bring it back and make it useable, but lost the windows and the lip of the engine bay would not match the engine lid. So I wrote (via email) to revell and explained that I did the damage but inquired how much it would cost to order a new replacement body. They never responded to the email but low and behold about a month and a half later a new body shows up in the mail! I did not expect to get one free but now i can throw the junked body out and finish this baby. That is AWESOME customer service......

In my experience, for a faster response, email Revell for replacement parts. I applaud Revell for standing behind their products with this service.

I , too , have had an excellent experience with Revell's customer service ! Absolutely top notch .

To wit : I bought a 1969 Dart 383 GTS off of eBay . The kit's seller stated that the 'glass' was mediocre at best , but that the rest of the kit was perfect ; I received the kit as-described .

Knowing that the current 1968 Dart shares its 'glass' with its predecessor , I sent an email to Revell , explaining that I wanted to purchase replacement clear parts for my newly-aquired 1969 .

The response I received was to the effect of : "We have received your request for replacement parts . Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery of your requested parts ." There was no accompanying bill for my requested parts ; and furthermore , the parts arrived in less than one week !!

I sent them not only a 'Thank You' email along with my inquiry as to the cost of the parts ( I thought , Post-Paid ? ) , but I telephoned their "800" number to verbally thank them , and to again ask "how much ?" .

I never received a bill , invoice , etc. !

Talk about great P.R. ! Very cost-effective , too . The price of their sending replacement parts for kits whose damage / missing items was no fault of theirs , is quite cheap as far as advertising is concerned !

Kudos , Revell !

See, especially in this economy, that speaks volumes on the business structure itself, do they really need to do that especially in your case with a kit later bought on ebay? No but they do it to keep happy customers, happy customers makes for great future sales, (in my opinion only as Im sure there may be other reasons behind giving away free pieces). Just incredible!!!

I absolutely agree, On the "tribute to my wife's first car" post. The mirror on the 78 Firebird, accidentally when down the drain when I was wet sanding it. They sent me a new one, no questions ask or even for payment. You don't see that kind of service anymore. I will purchase a Revell product any day as a result. Don't get me wrong AMT's kits are nice too, but I hope the are the same, if I need there help !!!!!!

I totally agree.

I needed the windshield for my daughter's Ferrari 4-H project, and emailed Revell about buying another one.

I told them that we bought the kit second hand. Just a few weeks later, the parts came in the mail free of charge.

I don't buy many kits, but Revell has my business in the future.

Revell has excellent customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree with all the posts, Revell's customer service is fantastic,I'm in the UK so I didn't know if Revell would ship to me, I'm working on a 59 Impala kit that had a cracked windshield, I emailed them and received an email response yesterday to say the parts on its way, may take 4-6 weeks but either way I'm very happy.

Very interesting and informative post.

Not too long ago had a Revell Mustang kit where I messed up the glass. Totally my fault. I put in a parts request on the web site and in the comments section, I told Revell that I broke the part, and that I'd be willing to pay for a replacement. About a week later I received the part in the mail. NO charge..

This was not Revell's fault, it was mine. They still replaced the part, for free.

Similar situation where I bought a paint from a scale finishes. When I got the paint, it wasn't the color I wanted. I sent an email explaining that I either ordered the wrong paint, or was sent the wrong color. Turns out I ordered the wrong color paint. I received an email saying that he had sent me the color I should have ordered, at no charge. Again, this was my fault and the company went over and above any of my expectations to help me. I would have happily bought the bottle once I knew the color name.

These are 2 examples of great customer service. Two companies who took care of me even when it wasn't my fault !

Guess what paint I will buy every single time now? Scale Finishes more than earned my business forever, and Revell continues to give great customer service.

Moebius makes a wonderful model product. But I'll tell you, if I had missing parts and the model company asked me to go to the post office and mail them the kit. I'd be a little ticked off. Mike and Bill has every right to share their experience with the rest of us here, and I'm glad they did.

Its great that they sent Bill a kit. That was the right thing to do. But it took too many steps. If it's missing parts then send the parts that are missing. Don't make it difficult to do business with you if there is an issue. It'd not stop me from buying a Moebius kit because for some subjects, like the 55 and 56 Chrysler, there is only one source. But reading this leave me a little disappointed.
