TonyK Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 Still being irked by USPS. An update on the tracking yesterday said it left the facility in Seattle at 7:30 pm Monday and I'd get it Tuesday by 9pm. I knew that wouldn't happen. Leave Seattle and I assume arrive at the Portland facility and go to my local post office and then my house in 24 hours?! Don't think so. Sure enough. Today it says "Moving through network". Yeah, that's clear as mud. Geez they suck! Remember this was shipped from Model Roundup on December 8th. 1

Wish they'd put the effort into fixing it rather than running it into the ground.
bobthehobbyguy Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 Still don't care. Have fun on your quest while I'm having fun finishing a few of my modeling projects I want to complete.

MrMiles Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 (edited) i have been happily collecting watches for a few months now, i dont remember how long. I recently got a seiko ssc909, which is a very nice watch, but the band is as small as i have ever received on a watch. I called seiko and they gave me 2 for free because i bought it from an AD, which arrived today. i put them on and it still does not fit. i need 1 more. no big deal, i call seiko and they tell me it 85 dollars shipped for 1 link. 85 dollars for a watch that i paid a total of 450 for. i had bought a mido titanium watch that was over 1000 and it cost me 10 dollars for the link. 85 dollars. i kind of feel like returning the watch, but since i put the other links on it, i dont think i can. i bit the bullet and bought the link, but i will not buy another seiko again. its highway robbery Edited December 21, 2022 by MrMiles
NOBLNG Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 I haven’t worn a watch since I retired five years ago. Well just a few times at somewhat formal events…and they were cheapos.? 2

I never understood when they would screw around with the original product and think the new formula would be better. That's old news. As it was explained in some related threads here, that happened due to material supplies issues related to COVID (like most things in the last 2 years). At this point BMF is back to its original formula, but some hobby shops might still have the subpar stuff. Order directly from BMF.

stavanzer Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 I buy my watches from "Shop Goodwill". Both old ones and a new one for work.
NOBLNG Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 I figured I better stock up on these since they are now outlawed in Canada.? 1
mikemodeler Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 So why does every discussion about models at Hobby Lobby turn into a rant about the selection and the price of models today? For many of us, Hobby Lobby and Michael's are all we have when it comes to local sources of model kits, so we are happy to have them. Yes, model kits have become more expensive, but everything else has too. Yes, their selection is limited but they can't carry everything. Could be the manufacturers limit what they can buy as they plan production runs around the orders from HL and Michael's. And no, I do not need a lecture on what inflation is and how it has impacted the price of model kits and how they should be $20 and not $40. I have been in this hobby for over 50 years and remember when models were cheap and stocked everywhere. 5

I did the same as you yesterday with exception of the straws. Four packs of spoons. I think I'll keep going back for awhile til I have a good supply. Edited December 22, 2022 by peter31a
cobraman Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Our flight tomorrow to Chicago and on to DC has been cancelled. Was going to spend Christmas with my daughter and husband and grand kids. Wife pretty upset but you can't control the weather. She is trying now to re book and get us there by Christmas. Good luck !
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Not really "irked" but it's going to be 8 deg F here, -5 deg F with the forecast wind chill (about -20 C), which is the coldest since I've lived in this part of the country (1969). Leaving work early this PM to wrap outside faucets, provide better shelter for the feral cats, etc.
