PierreR89 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 This irks me right now when I was on my way home from work and to pick up my son from his daycare The road out from my work is so badly plowed so there are only deep tiretracks that the car gets stuck in and in one of those deep tracks a piece of ice must have had just the right height to hit the valve in the tire, pushing it in and destroying it... now I have a spare but apparently last time i let someone borrow my car they helped them selves to the jack so there is nothing i can do by my self right now.... I have help on the way with a jack, summertire and tools so I can change it... 1
A modeler named mike Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I've been using ebay for approximately 3 or 4 years now to buy items from. Yesterday my main search bar to search the sites items stopped working. I rebooted my phone, with no fix, deleted it and then reinstalled it, still not working. I tried the sites ask for help and found nothing on my situation. I'm by no means tech Savvy so, Anybody have any suggestions?

Nobody there seems to be tasked with an ongoing functionality overview, so some things never get fixed. The function you need will probably come back in a day...or a month. 1

I hope your right..I've got a wad that's burning a hole in my pocket🤥.. it's weird that the search bar for searching within the watching list works, but not the main search bar?. I guess I'll just be patient till it's back to normal...🤞, If not I'll be back ranting and raving.. 1
89AKurt Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I just wasted two hours on a post for the new model rocket thread, and was shown an error, GONE! Sometimes I hate Technology so much..... 🤬 1

89AKurt Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I figured out everything was still in the que, but I chopped in half and was successful. 1

slusher Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Went to Michael’s and they one model a 69 Camaro RS, that’s it. They won’t be there long. Hobby Lobby moved kit to the opiate side of t isle. Very small diecast build section more models but mostly the same models"..
OldNYJim Posted January 17 Posted January 17 One of our work trucks hit my car in the lot Company will cover the damage, but not excited about having to find a body shop…it looks like it would be an awkward spot to repair 3

ranma Posted January 17 Posted January 17 My Irk: An ebay seller trying to scam me so that they don't have to refund the money! I bought an h.o. scale honest sam used car lot kit which went from Sacromento California to Cambridge,Mass where it was picked up in person at a Post Office there. So it's been delivered! I'm located 824.9 Miles WEST of that in OHIO! contacted the sell who claims he shipped it to the correct address in Ohio. That can't be true as the Tracking # show's it was picked up in Cambridge. Oh and to add a issue he has the same kit listed on ebay under a different h.o.building! 1

I stopped in our local Michael's yesterday to check if they still had any models or was it like my last visit, maybe a couple kits that were military and no automotive kits. This time, the military kits still the same ones and three Monogram '55 chevy BelAir street machine kits. Then I went to our Walmart and no models kits. Even the super Walmart in the neighboring town doesn't carry them...SAD... looks like for now I'm stuck with buying online or at Hobby Lobby, I have most of what they have on their shelves already in one form or another. I feel your pain Carl.. 2
89AKurt Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Think I complained about Waste Management a few months ago....... who bought out a local trash service company. Their suck business model is to make it impossible to decline, or cancel service. I know many just rolled over. Today got a call, the ID showed it was them, so I answered, and was immediately put on hold a few minutes. When a real person answered, the script is "thank you for calling" which I pointed out that YOU (WM) called me. After explaining why I'm not paying, was transferred and put on hold again. Both times I asked "is this really getting recorded?" I said that considering WM is able to sponsor whole stadiums, they can write off $18.55!!!!! So after 15 minutes, he said it is taken care of and they won't be bothering me. I was hot under the collar, and apologized for being so stern to them, but I was pissed that I even had to be mad. What's pathetic, that won't even buy a model at Hobby Lobby!

A modeler named mike Posted January 18 Posted January 18 7 hours ago, CabDriver said: Update…not sure if this one bodyshop is telling me my car’s total value or quoting to repair it 😂 Wow.. about 4 years ago we had a 2002 oldsmobile alero that had ridiculously low mileage. One day going to lunch I noticed that the brake pedal was feeling like it was low on brake fluid. I checked the reservoir and sure enough it was low. Stopped at Walmart, bought brake fluid, topped off the reservoir and headed back to work, approximately 1/2 mile. As I pulled onto works parking lot the brake pedal was spongy again. Popped the hood and dang the reservoir was low already. I know I had a big problem. I carefully drove it to my mechanic which is at the adjacent lot of where I worked. I was told the brake lines had deteriorated as was the gas line due to the wonderful salt brine that Maryland sprays on our roads before a wintery mix. The $h¡+ clings to the undercarriage and destoying the metal. The grand total to repair the damage was more than the book value of the car. Since the car had other ongoing issues we decided to just retire it. What's sad is that to fix your damage Is about the same as having my 4 teeth pulled by the oral surgeon, which I still yet to do.. 1 1
johnyrotten Posted January 18 Posted January 18 9 hours ago, CabDriver said: Update…not sure if this one bodyshop is telling me my car’s total value or quoting to repair it 😂 That's probably the cost for a quarter skin replacement. 2/3 of the bed of my truck was replaced a few months ago, oem panel and tailgate ect, almost 9 grand for that repair. Seems about right. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) 12 hours ago, CabDriver said: Update…not sure if this one bodyshop is telling me my car’s total value or quoting to repair it 😂 Sad part about that is there's no good reason to replace that quarter panel. Yeah, it's the way most shops would do it these days, but a perfectly adequate, safe, permanent, and undetectable repair can be done by a competent sheetmetal man who can do real hammer-dolly work and weld and metal-finish a little hole. This is one big reason a lot of nice older cars are ending up totalled when they still have many years of life in them otherwise. I hate what has become of the automobile repair industry. EDIT: It is also entirely possible an unscrupulous shop would repair the existing panel at significantly less cost to them in labor and parts, but bill the payer the full pop for panel replacement. I've seen it innumerable times. Odds are the owner would never know, and post-repair inspections by insurance companies are rare unless there's structural damage or the vehicle is brand new.
