Although still recovering from total shoulder replacement surgery, had the opportunity to go to the local high school and watch a softball camp for the local middle school along with a few freshmen from the high school. Some of the high school team from last year were there assisting the coaches, a lot of them ran up to me and hugged me. It's always a good day when you get hugged by a pretty young girl. Looking forward to softball season next year.

Today was the last day for the school kids so that wraps up another school year and one of the roughest for me ever. Now, it's vacay time.

Oh, the way they ran to the bus after dismissal would put a herd of stampeding Texas longhorn cattle to shame.

Ah yes I remember being part of that stampede towards the bus back in the day… good times.

My first issue with the new to me 2005 Trailblazer, shifter linkage  bushing fell apart as I was doing a 3 point turnaround. Good old zip tie to the rescue until I was able to pick up a new bushing repair kit. 20 minutes and $20. I'm on the road again.

There are probably suckers out there or else they wouldn't do it but I had a pest control salesman in the neighborhood treating a home nearby and offering a great deal.  Any problem with ants, spider, etc due to the rains....nope!  What about mice in the garage....oh well let me tell you about the crazy cat lady who feed all the neighborhood strays at the house behind my next door neighbor.  I really do have a crazy cat lady behind us but they stay out of my yard as we have three dogs.  What about garden snakes....notta one as we have hawk nests in the oak tree out front...come here and I can show you what they look like.  There is one of the three squirrel nests but one was 'repurposed' by hawks but you can't see them when the tree is in full bloom.  I went full 'turning into your parents' on this guy just like the TV commercial.  He kept trying to walk away but I kept reingaging.  Doubt he will be back.

One of the benefits of getting old......

The pleasing parts of the cruise night last night. While me and my mom were going about looking at the other cars, my dad stayed behind with our car and I was glad he did. He met some guy who apparently has two '69 LeMans convertibles, and various parts including a set of chrome bumpers and grille, and maybe some other parts. And also my dad ordered chrome wheel opening trim and got a promo code to get 20% off the set price. The parts are coming.

Went to the shop early in the cool, got an unpleasant fiberglass-grinding job done on the DeLorean in preparation for mounting the custom instrument panel, pumped up tires on all my cars, put an air filter in the '89 GMC (hauled a load of trash to the shop in her too), worked until it was just too hot and miserable for a Saturday.

Came home, had half a sandwich, fixing to go out and rake more pine straw off of the concrete drive (it's relatively cool here under the trees) which should take an hour or two and burn off some lard.

Then maybe, just MAYBE, after a nice cool shower I just MIGHT actually work on a model.  :)

A lady friend called not long ago to extend an invitation to me on a cousin's behalf for a cookout on July 4th that'll take place at his home on the North Shore area of my state near the ocean. He said if I want to, I can stay overnight.  I gladly accepted. He even has a pool. 🙂

Needed a day off from world events, personal BS piled high and deep, and work...so I went out for breakfast, then to the ACME meeting. Showed an in-progress model I've posted on this board and introduced a fiberglass technique those guys hadn't seen previously. What a nice bunch they are. Came home with 4 decent rebuilders (3 of my favorite kits and one forlorn '34 Rolls nobody else wanted) for $20 too.

I finally figured out where that extra resin Merlin I have is going...

1934 Rolls-Royce Merlin touches down in Jay Leno's Garage

Far as the other rebuilders go, the little Revell pickup wants to look something like this but with a mild chop...

The '36 Ford 5-window has its heart set on this look...

1936 Ford 5-W Coupe Chopped-Sectioned ...

And the '48 Ford really wants to be a gasser...

Got up to a beautiful day, went to church, visited with my wife’s elderly aunt (w/dementia) and spent the rest  of the day with my beautiful wife.

Yesterday took HS to the A&W show. Best car show yet. Small, 3-hours, and lots of nice people. While I was walking about my parents made friends with the older couple who parked beside us in a '66 Caprice. And my friend's younger brother showed up with his original paint 1969 Chrysler Newport. He had just got it last August I think, but this was the first show he'd taken it to. Very original car. Still has remnants of the Riverside Chrysler-Plymouth dealer sticker on the trunk, and various period window stickers. Even a NOS 8-track player and a whole 8-track case full of old tunes. Pretty awesome car. (photos in 1:1 reference cars).

Pleased about sort of resurrecting, doing a body swap with a vintage taillight/license light by using massive amounts of silicon caulking to install the bulb.  Got the plate from a fellow antique auto club member, on a lark.  Instead of a Blue Dot, it's a marble.  I got to a point with getting caulking everywhere, that I ruined the first light.  Best to pause and let the caulking set up before finishing.

Got part 2 and 3 of the drip irrigation lines set up in 30 minutes. I need to set the drip lines still but I have a phone meeting in a few minutes. So, I'll finish it in a bit.

All in time for my wife to water tonight.

I just received an email back from Norm at RMoM and three of the four parts that I wanted to order, which are no longer listed in his 2024 Catalog are still available. Including the scoop pack I was told about.

I am so happy!!! Sometimes life is good.

Nice morning doon at tha crik, rising sun warming everything nicely after an unusual plunge to  36 degrees early this am. Brrr.

Ducks, geese paddling about and a flock of martins sweeping the airspace above the river clean of skeeters and other pests.

Wild roses bursting into bloom along the road and a lone bald eagle standing a lonely sentinel in its tree watching for breakfast. Nice way to start the day.
