Took the Rottweiler to the Vet to get sedatives for July Fourth.

They were badly overbooked, so we had to wait in the Car with the A/C running.

I found out that my 105 lb. dog pants so hard that she shakes the car! When she would pause to swallow, the car would go still. When she panted again, the car would bounce. A gentle bounce, but she rocks the car, nonetheless.

Truly weird....

We've been lucky with our dogs when it comes to fireworks. Our Westies used to look out the window and bark at what they saw acting like they were excited and if to say "knock off all that noise". Otherwise they were fine with it.

Our 2 rescue Terriers don't really care at all. But when a delivery truck comes down the street.......we'll have none of that!

My rescue Chihuahua/terrier mix gets upset w/ fireworks and emergency vehicles going past..the Yorkies seem to ignore them for the most part.   I'm glad I get very little in the way of fireworks--they are banned in my suburb.

My previous suburb was much noisier in the summer, morons nearby would set off fireworks on the street--very loud.

Our one property is within an 1/8 of a mile of our Carroll County Farm Museum property where many events are held. Once such event is the 4th of July Celebration and fireworks. When those mortars go off the boom shakes the houses windows. For years when we had cats and dogs I would sit in the house and turn up the TV volume and try to physically keep them calm during the fireworks. That same Museum holds Civil war reenactments throughout the summer months, with cannons and black powder muskets being constantly shot off during the event.

Now that all our pets have gone to the other side we don’t have to worry about the noise.

I finally got to help out one of my neighbor ladys. Her garbage disposal has been non-functional for over two years. It was old, rusted and seized so I advised her to purchase a new one and I'd install it for her. Today was the day. It went in without a hitch and all is well now. My payment, a homemade Italian dinner.. good neighbors are abundant in this development.

I had posted in the Irked thread about having the County sending a threatening letter about my Shipping Container.  That dead tree letter was dated April 03, I called the Land Use Specialist to tell her it was getting moved, and she said they are not allowed period, must be removed.  I said there were a few in my district, and she didn't believe me, so I sent one example that had been complained about and then closed, I found 8 in total.  Plus other areas.  I put a little sign in my driveway the week the Right of-way visual site inspection was going to happen, I think it was the next week, no sign.  I saw the detail of the complaint dealt with it being on the property line, before it was dragged around back.  I was loaded for bear.  But today I saw this:

Today on a lark, checked out the County's Citizen Serve portal, discovered the complaint was closed June 06, she never sent a dead tree letter to inform me.  The bureaucrat took 5 pictures down my driveway, but one was just of Blue Cloud which I find amusing for some reason.

My youngest God-daughter graduated high school today, I could not be more proud of her.

Apologize to her for the current state of the world and ask her generation to make it better, please. Congratulations!

Last night we went to a Venezuelan food cart to get dinner, I'd never had Venezuelan food before. I had a Reina Pepiada Arepa, which is a sandwich made with flat bread made of corn dough and chicken, avocado, mayo, onion, cilantro, and lime juice filling. It was delicious.

My 08 Corolla has been such a good little car since I bought it from my mechanic back in March that I treated it to a full blown bath at the local car wash today and had the interior vacuumed out.

I spent much of the afternoon under the DeLorean on a creeper, putting the fuel tank and the forward parts of the cooling system back in.

It's been a while since I've had to do much like that, and at first it was pretty painful and generally uncomfortable.

But after about an hour it wasn't bad at all, and getting up and down got much easier.

I'm done for the day and am pretty much pain free without any ibuprofen or aspirin.

The take-away being, for ME at least, is that if I don't expect much of my body and act like I'm old, I start to rust up and FEEL old.

Staying physically ACTIVE doing somewhat demanding work is, I firmly believe, a very large part of staying younger feeling and healthy.

In other news, I've lost the ten pounds I gained sitting on my backside for 6 weeks with the broken ribs.

The only program I have any use for whatsoever on PBS comes on at 8:00 PM...H. Johnson's weekly Saturday night Jazz Classics produced right here in the big swampy ATL.

It's worth a listen if you like real jazz from the '40s through now.

Hear it here:   https://onlineradiobox.com/us/wabe/

He's one of the coolest people I've ever met, has been doing the show since 1978, and is still going strong at 88.

Ready to hear something groovy: Meet H. Johnson, celebrating 30 years of WABE's "Jazz Classics" - ARTS ATL

I spent the day with my beautiful wife. Went to the medical supply store to get her some new scrubs. Then we went for a ride and listened to my oldest son’s bands new album. Went to eat at a seafood restaurant and returned home. If you haven’t gathered by my responses on this thread, I absolutely love spending time with my wife.

Thirty five years ago today started it all.  Made it official with the little blonde gal I met working at a 7-11 store on my way to the airport.  We've had many adventures and not once has she ever complained about the 1/1 cars or the spare room of model kits.

Congratulations to you and your lovely bride. My wife and I celebrated our 40th year together last month. We had both experienced unfortunate prior marriages, but the last 40 years have been the wonderful together and wouldn't have it any other way in life.

My dog Harper (110 pounds) brought out one of her stuffed animals into the yard. My wife tried to take it from her, yeah, not happening.  I haven't laughed like that in a while.  Good dog.

Emmett does that on occasion with one of his chew bones.... When it's time to go inside, I'll tell him,"Emmett, get your toy!" and he picks it right up and brings it in.......
