My wife and I got back last weekend from a short trip to San Antonio Texas along with one of her brothers and his wife. Toured the Alamo and the River Walk. We went to visit another one of their brothers and his wife who retired to the Texas Hill County a few years ago. I could learn to like that area. They are in a very rural setting and while sitting on their deck at night we were visited by several Deer, he does put out corn for them, a couple of Foxes who were trying to raid the Bird feeders. So, Monday morning we are sitting down to some breakfast at home around sun rise. Looking out of the window we see what at first looks like a skinny long-legged dog. About this time, we can see another and realize these are Foxes coming across the Golf Course Fairway behind our house. A couple of our neighbors have small dogs, and they leave food for them near their back doors. I think the Foxes know this and are foraging for food. They see us in the kitchen window with the light on and they run into the woods along the creek. Wonder if that is what has been happening to our Bird feeders getting torn up from time to time.

Possums and raccoons were getting more of the food I put out for the feral cats than the cats were, but since I started bringing it in around dusk, no more.

I have wondered about that maybe an issue as well.  We have a trail in the grass from the cart path to our feeders. My wife thinks she has seen a small critter around the feeders at times in the dark. Nothing surprises me living at the edge of the prairie. Still better than a bunch of city noises.

If you read the post about Show Us Your Dog, you know I lost my beloved Aussie last Friday.  I had box of hand towels in my car the past several weeks with the intent to take them to a local low cost pet clinic.  Friday afternoon, I took them and three bags of dental chews along Jamie's meds and a former food bowl (we switched her to a smaller one) to the clinic.  The lady at the reception desk was an older African American lady (very grandmotherly).  I explained what each of the items was but struggled when I started talking about my Daddy Girl.  She looked at this old fart and asked if she could give me a hug.....absolutely as this was ripping my heart out even more!  I e-mailed the clinic director and told them what this wonderful woman did for me that a.m.

Wife calls me a work today that I got a package from Chewy.  Odd....didnt order anything but did cancel Jamie's meds and scaled back the dry kibble and I e-mailed Chery to let them know they didn't do anything wrong but I lost my baby.  Wife opened the box and it was a small bouquet of flowers (w/vase) in her memory.  I just got off a conference call and kept telling myself not to look......but I did. I had to step away from my desk.  They owed me nothing.....my sole reason was just good business to let them know why I stopped a couple of the auto ships.

It's hard to lose a furbaby but little things like this really lets you know others care.

Sorry about your friend. I've heard lots of things like this that the chewy company have done. They seem to be a very genuine brand compred to other pet food places. If i lived in the states i would be using them just for that reason

We had a birthday at work today, so his wife brought in cupcakes for everyone. Heck yeah.

Mid-morning chocolate cupcakes are a good thing.

:)

Doesn't take much to keep me happy.

I just this minute finished the hardest part of the custom instrument panel I'm doing for a client's DeLorean (a stepped, brushed aluminum bezel that surrounds the custom instrument faces and matches the brushed finish of the body), one of the last two jobs I'm finishing up before I can get the rest of my stuff moved west.

Is it perfect? Nope, but it's nice enough that nobody but me will ever know where the flaws are.

With this part done, I can go ahead and make the dozens of little parts that hold everything together, locate the LEDs behind the warning light symbols, and wrap up the panel illumination.

I'm as happy as a clammed clam...and that's pretty clammed happy.  B)

I don’t know if you’re allowed, or inclined, to share pics of some of the cool 1:1 stuff you work on Bill, but I’m pretty certain I would enjoy seeing them if you ever did!  :)

I did some early morning grocery shopping before the weekend crowd showed up so I can kick back. I'm on vacay this week.

After 2 weeks of mostly standing like a plum outside the same shops in every mall or street we passed, I'm finally home and able to sleep in my own bed. The marks and spencer on princess street in edinburgh had the most comfortable window ledge

My son texted me asking me how my 29 Ford roadster was coming along, saying he hadn't received an update recently. I told him that I hadn't had a chance to get much done besides primering some small parts and that I had to change what I was doing with the front suspension. I then sent him a picture of the front wheels that I'd done. He said they looked realistic and I thanked him, saying I was trying. His response was I was doing a "rock solid job!". That definitely made my day.20230418_124842.jpg.c6b48ce651d2a8e992c3f3000f6ca9b1.jpg

Did the Red Cross First Aid course yesterday. Needed to refresh it before my certification expired. While at the training place, managed to buy the stuff needed to restock my camping first aid kit.

Finished up doing our taxes. Worked out well, as the refund will cover a new overhead door for the garage, and polyjacking the driveway.

I closed on my new house today.  All went pretty smoothly.   Only 20 miles from current house, but bigger, one story, much more storage and garage space, almost 2 acres.  I’ll be busy the next month or so moving in and then putting my current house up for sale.  Icky weather today though.  34 and sleet.

Tax refunds always seem like found money until you realize the things that need doing.?

The custom DeLorean instrument panel as it stands today. Still some way to go, but the worst is over.

Screen-printed gauge faces on a vinyl overlay on clear styrene sheet; hand-made brushed aluminum, stepped bezel face; instrument movements by Classic Instruments; everything to put it together and make it actually function like an OEM assembly by me.

This unit, parts of which were made for a DeLorean show car, was supplied to me dissembled, with parts that didn't go together, had been damaged, or were just poorly thought out and made....cool looking junk, essentially. Now it's a real part.

Ahh the joys of homeownership! I could spend the tax return 10 times over, without even getting to fun things.

But do you still have to do the dishes? I also enjoy a nice thick BBQ Steak, but I still have to do the dishes.
