TonyK Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 I can still remember a couple of times long ago when I was sick, I could lay in the sun on a lawn chair and swear it made me get well that very day. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 Taking the afternoon off to sit outside at a local establishment and have a cocktail while the space-dragon eats the sun. As good a reason as any, right? Mustn't forget the shades.
Rob Hall Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 Night bulb will soon be blocking day bulb...been listening to music sort of related to that theme today--Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' album, Audioslave's 'Shadow on the Sun', U2's 'Staring at the Sun' and the Beatles 'Here Comes the Sun'.... a little cloudy but should still be good here in NE Ohio..taking the afternoon off, got my shades.. 1

About 60% totality here in Atlanta. Now it's getting lighter again. We had an almost total one here back in May of '84. Edited April 8, 2024 by Ace-Garageguy CLARITY
TonyK Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 Nothing in Oregon. The one 7 years ago was enjoyable. It was sunny and clear so we had a good show. Experienced a few of these in my lifetime; partial or whatever, so I don't get too excited about it.

Rob Hall Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 Got totality here outside Cleveland. Took a few pics, more interesting were the shadows and light on the yard. Got dark enough for my outside lights to come on. 2 1
A modeler named mike Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 I went out and pushed the lawn mower around during the spectacular eclipse event and didn't notice any difference here in Maryland.. No big deal, at least the tall weeds poking through the grass got trimmed... 2
TarheelRick Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 Worked in the basement a good part of the day assembling my new aerator/spreader. Got it all together with no left over parts and no cuts or abrasions on my body. Did have to take the aerator blade section apart and reassemble it because I used the wrong size washer. Now I need to purchase some fertilizer and grass seed so I can start trying to get my lawn to grow something other than clover, dandelions, and assorted weeds.
Dave Ambrose Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 We saw the eclipse! Our plan A site was going to be clouded out, so we relocated to Llano, TX. We had some disturbingly thick clouds. It wasn't looking promising until about 15 minutes prior to totality when a big hole showed up. We got to see all of totality, albeit through some high, thin clouds. Lots of prominences for this one. The city was well prepared for the influx of people, and we got to support some local organizations. Here is one of my better shots: 9

espo Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Well, we only have 22 shopping years to get new glasses for the next eclipse.

And I'll wager the vast majority of the ones given away or purchased for this one were nothing but cheap tinted garbage, not extra-special whiz-bang "eclipse-rated" whoopee wonders. 1
stitchdup Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 I was in my local record shop yesterday and it just so happened they were doing the tamiya/nunu order. The lady behind the till asked me for some advice on what to get so instead of a more kits i suggested paints, primers and tools. She wasn't sure what to get so i ended up choosing the order for her and while i was adding things that i want, i was also telling her what each thing was for to maybe help her with future orders. I'm happy to help them out as they will be opening a new shop in the future and i want a job in it, but either way stuff i want will be coming into stock and hopefully my knowledge will help me get a job there. fingers crossed 6
stavanzer Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 I got a ride home from work today, did not have to ride the bus. (an hour and a half to two hour journey, normally) Had fresh dinner waiting at home for me, and I got to romp with my Rottweiler puppy. (She's now a year old, but still goofy and playful) It was a good day. 3
FLHCAHZ Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 (edited) Finally got my car back from the body shop. Edited April 11, 2024 by FLHCAHZ 2

Ace-Garageguy Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 A beautiful day in the neighborhood, rain blew out last night, coming week's forecast looks pretty decent so far. Might get at least one long hike in...and maybe primer or paint a model part or three. 1
iamsuperdan Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Bought tickets to see Billy Idol in August. And tickets to see Sum 41 in January. And we're going to see Killer Dwarfs on June 1st.
John M. Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 The school kids have next week off so I'll be taking it easy as I resume a couple of model car projects that I had to put on hold because of my job and other things that needed attention.
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 (edited) I tend to complain and moan frequently about people not returning emails, or just not bothering to do their jobs with any sense of responsibility. This week I had TWO suppliers who messed up, one with a ridiculously poorly packed order that was subsequently badly damaged in transit, and another one who shorted an order bigtime, and one of the parts that did arrive was of poor quality. HOWEVER, BOTH of these responded immediately to my emails, and have already or are working towards making things right. Everybody makes mistakes. It's how you deal with and correct them that counts in the end...and these two suppliers have top marks for follow-up so far. Edited April 14, 2024 by Ace-Garageguy
RSchnell Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Some Tex-Mex and a little walk on the near deserted beach afterwards made a great way to kill a couple hours. We're in that lull period between the time the snowbirds have left & right before the summer crowds so I'm taking advantage of it while I can. 4
Russell C Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Survived the drive across town to north Phoenix for the Desert Scale Classic contest/swap meet. Much like any other big city (and some small towns!), it's travel-at-your-own-peril these days. Nice to see old friends again, and there was many great quality entries there. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 Finally learning not to rise to things that tend to provoke my ire, staying calm, standing my ground without anger, and walking away when it becomes obvious the provocation is from the clueless who will never get it. It sure took long enough to get to this point, but better late than never. 3
