Ehhh .... I see the 'non-model related' tag now.  Didn't see it before - looked right past it.

So, I need to post in that other thread because it was a small truck and the haul was models.

Sorry about that, Chief!  Missed it by .... that much!

See y'all at DESERT SCALE CLASSIC!

You're a man after my own heart, Miles. One of my favorite things in life is dragging home a new, cheap parts car for an ongoing project. Sometimes, the parts car ends up being nicer than the 'good' one. :D

This one is way nicer than the other. For logical reasons, I'll tear apart the good one to fix the bad one.

I just bought the Chris Stapleton CD "Traveller" a few minutes ago, been hearing one of the tracks on the radio a bunch lately and started listening to him on YouTube.........then broke down and made that purchase on my day off today........ . ..........

Had to get Pocky sticks while I was there too, love those stupid things!

You got that right Ed!  I live and breathe the show from the first of the year until now. The following weekend is wind down, updating the web site, packing away everything and doing the end paperwork.  This year is very intense because I'm working on a work project that's demanding a lot of hours at the same time.  I won't see daylight at least until June on that one!

Had to get rid of one to get the other. Bought the moped new in 2012 and hardly rode it. Inherited a rider mower from my father-in-law that is nearly 20 years old. It's getting harder and harder to get parts for it, so it has to go too. Well, I sold the moped on Friday, bought a new rider mower today, and the old rider goes bye-bye on Sunday. Picture of the moped is the actual. Picture of the new rider is a stock photo.huskyyth22v46_zpsgd8pif3g.jpgIMG_3304_zpsazbx8ayi.jpg

We had one of those Zuma's. Pretty fun little off road scooter. Or trail I would say. We used ours in the desert and it worked well.

I had the intention of finding a job closer to home and use the moped more instead of my truck. Well, that didn't happen. So, it just sat in the garage. It only had 88.6 miles on it when it went bye-bye.

Got a set of nice M&S takeoffs for my '89 GMC pickup, and made a deal for a complete Chebby 283 out of a '60 Impala that got a new 350 crate-motor. I've been kinda lucking into a mess of Chebby smallblock parts lately and I already have a pair of beautiful Chebby double-hump heads, so depending on what crank is in the 283, I MAY build a little sleeper 3X2 (Rochester) / shorty-header engine to replace the 305 small-port engine in the GMC. It's kinda fun to drive with the 5-speed, and handles better than a lot of beam-axle hot rods, so I figure with a set of lowering blocks in the rear and dropped spindles in front...and a cool old-school engine...I can drive happy for a while while I build something else. And the truck can still work for its living as a truck. The 283 will let me dump the first-gen serpentine belt setup too, the one that makes it a real PITA to change a water pump. B)

I also found out that somebody finally makes dropped disc brake spindles for my '63 Olds 88 ragtop, so all the procrastination I've been doing about getting her running can finally end. :D

Got a new stock for my Varmint rifle and got the rifle bedded. It's a Savage MkII rifle in a customized Boyd's stock with adjustable comb, Cabela's .22lr calibrated scope with BDC and a heavy profile "bull" barrel. The muzzle device is an extra one I had laying around that I took off of my Adams .223 a while back that I just stuck on there because it looked better than the thread protector...being it's just a .22 it doesn't need the brake.

cool! that will drop a few jaws when you pop the hood, no tbi mess...

and yeah, the 5-spd nv is a great little tranny. have it in my '90 k1500. off-road i never use the brakes or clutch, with 1st gear (4:02)  t-case in low range (2:72) & 3:73's it's better than a mountain goat, even with the ifs (inferior front susp....lol)

Yeah, the TBI mess went belly-up a few months back, so I made a cheapo adapter carved from a chunk of 3/4" aluminum plate and bolted a Rochester 2GC (off the '63 Olds) to it, swapped the OEM distributor for a junkyard HEI with vacuum and mechanical advance. Runs stronger than the TBI (which had been failing for a while), gets at least the same fuel mileage too. Engine's got over 200K on it now and I'm starting to hear a lot of piston slap when she's cold, so it's about time. This is a truck I saved from the crusher for $100, put another $1000 or so in to, and she's been working hard for several years now. She's earned some goodies.

wow! good price, it dont owe you nothing!

same here, sneaking up on 300 000 kms, runs like a top. my biggest prob has always been leaks, no. 1-oil filter adapter, no.2-t-case rear output. wish i paid what you did, but as with all GMC's, they earn their keep & it too owes me nothing :)

Getting rid of that serpentine belt system should make the truck quieter..............although, I can't imagine anything not being better than TBI on those things, we had a Chevy van with that on the 350, I think it was one of the hotter 170-180hp versions............in a full sized van.  Ever since they've became available on the used market, I've though an LS would make a great swap in place of that TBI motor, no matter what it was in.

I got another one of these for the Cobra collection. Not to play with. The car is pretty detailed and it was a cheap ebay buy. I may use this as a test for a paint job I want to try.

Well Tim the upside to that is at least the Weather ought to be warming up by then.

The weather for Wayne is looking to be outstanding for NNL East 30!  ... Tom has some good connections this year .. not going to mind standing in the blocks long line to get in this year ))
