Can-Con Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) Been working on this for a couple months. Planned to have it done by now but I had a couple unplanned house repairs to keep me busy instead. LOL MPC funnycar body, which is dead stock, AMT '70Chevelle chassis and a resin interior from Kevin @ Missing Link. Paint is Ford "royal blue". Wheels are cobbled together from the parts box should measure out to about 19". The inners are Monogram GTO and the rims and tires are from a Monogram '90 ish Vette ZR-1. Paint is cleared and polished out now and most of the trim is foiled but I haven't taken any pics sincethe last ones shown. Edited February 14, 2015 by Can-Con
MeatMan Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Very nice. That year was always my fav goat. The rear tires look sweet tucked in under the fenderwells, and the wheels look stunning.
Snake45 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Very nice! I've been wanting to turn that funny body into a stocker. Good to know that it works so well. Looks like you cut the hood out and did a nice job of it, too. What did you use to make the cuts?
Can-Con Posted December 24, 2014 Author Posted December 24, 2014 Thanks guys. I just used the back of a #11 X-acto to cut the hood. I also dremmeled out the scoops and made the top of the cowl between the firewall and windshield from scratch. I'll take a pic of that when it's a bit further along. Here's a couple more pics I just took.
Model Brain Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) Great! Great! GTO Love it, Sweet wheels! gives it the 17" - 18"look to it. Edited December 24, 2014 by Model Brain
Ron Hamilton Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Another winner!!!! Don't get mad at me Steve, but I may have to do a copy of that one, in a different color. I love it!!!!
Modlbldr Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 That looks fantastic and I love the paint. What brand did you use? Later-
Curt Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Nice job on that Goat! I really like the wheel choice and the way you did the strip of tint at the top of the windshield.
Bob Ellis Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 It's amazing how well #11 Xactos open promo hoods.
Yo Jutt Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 This looks really good! Great colour choice. And I like how the wheels just seem to pop. Well done.
Can-Con Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 Finished up the resin interior today. Just paint detail some foil and flocking. It's painted with the same dark blue I used on the body. It's actually a pretty good match for the dark blue used in the 1/1 cars. I cut the sides from the rest of the bucket to make it easier to detail. Also added a couple resin arm rests I had on hand. I also added some simple wipers made from plastic strips to the scratch-made cowl area.
Can-Con Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Nice looking interior and nice progress... Thanks Carl.
Jeremy Jon Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Looks great, love the stance, and mildly modern look but otherwise period muscle car, very nice!!
TFchronos Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 That's a beautiful paint job Steve. Great work!
Can-Con Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Thanks guys. Been busy this afternoon. This is about it for the cowl. I now need to hit it with some semigloss black and foil the wipers and stainless trim strip at the bottom of the glass.
damop6v8 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Love it, very nice indeed, great build & stunning paint, look forward to the updates!
Can-Con Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 Here's another little update. The glass and interior is installed along with the firewall. You can see in these pics how the scratchbuilt cowl area looks finished. I robbed the rad and fan shroud from a Monogram 1/24 GTO. Took a bit of trimming but I think it'll look good when finished. Also,, I'm really happy with how the windshield fit on this car. I don't usually seem to be able to get hem to fit this good. I'm also robbing the engine from the Monogram kit. I was using one from an old kit I built when they first came out in the early '80s for mockup purposes. I liked how it looked so I'm building another one almost identical for this car. Maybe a bit better build quality than the one I did over 30 years ago though. [30+ year old engine on the left, new one on the right.]
blunc Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 nice work on the cowl. fyi, the carb on the 30 yr old engine is on backwards.
