Revell (Monogram) 1/24th scale, 1985 Pontiac Fiero
Ragtop Man replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Everyone felt the pain in the era including Ford, but they seemed to have the ability to see up to and a litte over the horizion. Explorer 4-door, F-Series and Taurus made the fumbles with other less successful models (Tempo, Escort, et. al.) a sideshow. They were printing money at the time, but after Don Petersen stepped down the leadership was inconsistent. I'd go on, but the chronicles of the era including "The Reckoning" by Halberstam and "Wheels for the World" by Brinkley align very well with the tales my father told (Ford exec 38 years.) Both books deal with the heavy influence of the family on daily affairs of the company, modern Medici princes toiling in an otherwise faceless corporate world. -
Do you also have 1:1 project cars?

My sister's west coast of Canada Neon held up well. From Vancouver, to Calgary and then all the way back home to Cape Breton Island. East coast weather did some rust damage, but she drove it everywhere. Regular service from Day 1, like all her cars. I drove it a time or three, Fun little ride. Not a ton of power, but the stick made it seem faster than it was. It died when the Chevy van ran the red and took the back end off it. She said it had over 300k kilometers on it. She replaced it with a Caliber... and hated that thing till the day it croaked. -
Yes, I believe that's right. I don't recall ever seeing the Rambler Marlins but I did see a few Rambler Rebel Matadors from time to time.

Cool project, can't go wrong with fast Elco. Your craftsmanship is showing thru nicely.... -
SWEET!! THAT GOLD IS AWESOME!!!

Super fly, indeed - looks terrific. The gold is right on, looks like the 1:1. The front clip swap is a great move - I fell into the trap of trying to sand the vinyl on a builder, which remains firmly in the box pending conversion to a convertible.

I built the current round 2 re-issued version of the mpc. I would not count on parts swaping easily, the mpc kit is designed rather interestingly. It probably could be done and I'm not doubting your skills. -
