Some recent discussion on another thread inspired me to dig this one out and clean it up.  I decided to post some pics as there aren't a lot of images out there of this golden oldie (at least not that I could find).

It was purchased as a built-up many years ago and restored. I wasn't a big fan of the custom wheels that came with the kit, and I felt that the Monogram wheel/tire combo (Lil Coffin or Little Deuce..?)  looked like they belonged.  I also wanted to alter the stance a bit, so I swapped the somewhat chunky-looking straight front axle with a dropped axle from the scrap box.

Double cool.

I've only ever seen this thing two ways...either a horrible gluebomb, or an unbuilt kit.

You've done a fine job, especially considering it's a resto.

Very nice! You can be especially proud of this resto. No, the whole style isn't my thing at all, but it's a nice job and it's obvious that you restored it with much care and much skill. You done good! B)

The mod to the stance and the swap out of the rolling stock really pay off, as does the fine detail work with all the plumbing and wiring. Impressive stuff and the result is sort of an idealized version of what AMT, and no doubt the original builder, had in mind. It really adds a lot to the basic kit build, as subtle as these changes might seem.

Sweet! I love late 50s to mid 60s custom rods, and this kit is a perfect example of the look...but your modifications have given it the refinement it always needed.

As with Ace, I've generally only seen these as butchered gluebombs or complete kits (both selling for way too much!)
Gotta love those finned plug covers, and the finned coils molded into the firewall. I like the coiled master cylinder plumbing!

Thanks for the photos, it's great to see this fairly elusive model in well-built detail.

Great job on the resto/improvements. I never owned this kit and didn’t realize it had a nice Nailhead (with finned spark plug covers) ! Was the side trim glued to the body or was it molded that way ?

Just illustrates how a change in rolling stock can really change any vehicle. This is one of the nicest builtups of this kit I've seen.

x2! Best build of this kit that I’ve seen.

Beautiful save!

Cool. Nicely done. Any pictures of the unrestored model?

Thanks for all of the comments.

I wish I had "before" pics, but I don't.

I'll second that!
