Casey Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Looks like the 1/25 Revell Chevy custom van is being reissued soon:
Mr mopar Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 I like this van ,looks like I may have to get a few !
Rob Hall Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Been 20 years since that one was last out IIRC.
Luc Janssens Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Like the Monogram better, especially the 4x4 version... Pic courtesy of the builder who can be identified via link below which leads you to more pics of his built https://coffincorner.proboards.com/thread/20201/monogram-desert-rat-van
vincen47 Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 (edited) I imagine it’ll have the stock parts, like the grille, hood, mirrors, etc. Hard to tell, but looks like the side of the box shows the stock version? Edited October 8, 2020 by vincen47

Those Revell vans never had stock grilles and bumpers and the flares are molded to the body. They did have 3 or 4 different custom grilles though.
espo Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 I'm going to build one like the Demo I had back then. The grill on the cover reminds me of something you would see on a Ford. As long as the stock grill is there I'm good on this.
mk11 Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 (edited) You'll have to adapt the amt grill if you want stock. This kit has been reissued over the years in a few different themes; Hardy Boys, Charlies Angels, A-team, a yellow surf decaled version and maybe others. Lift-off roof and full custom interior. There was also a 1/16 version, the Big Bad Van. Maybe a good one for Chris to do a history on Edited October 9, 2020 by mk11

Thanks, good to know. I would have been disappointed if I grabbed one thinking I could build it stock.

mk11 Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 You did such a great job with those other histories, I thought it was a natural fit They sho 'nuff got their money out of that tooling
stavanzer Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 It would be nice if Revell saw fit to include at least a few of the extra parts from the Mean Mudder and Convoy vans. The Hardy Boys and Charlie's Angels vans appear to be the same parts molded in different colours. Ant lest us have some options for wheels.

The Convoy van and Hardy Boys van is identical to this upcoming release except for the decals and color of plastic. You missed one, the "Brute Force" van is also based on this kit but has the big rig add-on parts. There was also a few other vans in sets with trailers , basically identical to the Mean Mudder.
slusher Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 This is a must have. I really like the customize stuff I have seen on eBay...
Fabrux Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Does anyone happen to have one of these kits they could share pictures of the instructions? ?
Mr mopar Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 (edited) Here it is pre production model .From Face Book ! Edited October 13, 2020 by Mr mopar
Fabrux Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Are you at liberty to disclose other building options in the kit, Rob? ?
stavanzer Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Looks like they've chromed the wheels. Many of the releases of this kit have no chrome at all. So, That's nice. Those look like they might be two-piece tires. I sure hope not.......

True, but that was during the "no chrome" era at Revell. IIRC, the last release in 2000 included chrome plated parts. 4 hours ago, alexis said: Those look like they might be two-piece tires. I sure hope not....... I think the built up model was based upon an older/vintage kit. The box art clearly shows tampo-printed Firestone tires, and Revell wouldn't dare mold and include two-piece vinyl tires in a modern release.
