69H.O.Firebird Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 I’m starting this kit for the winter. It’s a old S & G Craft kit. I have the steering wheel finished. Hope to have it done by spring. We will see. The kit is laser cut with tons of machined parts. 1
Slimguy Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Bruce, that steering wheel is awesome! I am looking forward to watching this build for sure!
misterNNL Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Interesting project. Be sure to post your progress photos.
Codi Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 It's a steering wheel................but oh what a steering wheel it is. Truly beautiful. cheers, tim
peteski Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 That steering wheel looks great. It looks to be a standalone model by itself. What scale is that thing? Looks large. Maybe 1:4 scale?
69H.O.Firebird Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 This is the box for the kit and my 9 foot long work bench that I’ll be building it on. The boat is 1/4 scale, 54” long , will be about 30-40 lbs depending on my power choice. It will accept a 32cc weed eater engine or electric. I’ll probably go electric. 1
Joe Handley Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Is this going to be a radio control boat too?
69H.O.Firebird Posted December 10, 2020 Author Posted December 10, 2020 Yes, it will be radio controlled.
bisc63 Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 At that scale, you can almost build a real boat just as quickly!? Should look sweet when done; looks like you are meticulous in your craftsmanship.
mustang1989 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 This build right here is a testament to the great skillsets that are on this site. There is no end to the great talent here. Stunning work Bruce.
69H.O.Firebird Posted December 22, 2020 Author Posted December 22, 2020 Thanks for the kind words everyone. Merry Christmas! This will be a slow build. My bench is moved for furnace replacement in my basement. I’m limited in what I can build. Plus I just purchased a authentic Meyers Manx buggy to restore. I’m busy busy!!
69H.O.Firebird Posted February 2, 2021 Author Posted February 2, 2021 Unfortunately no progress. My model shop is disrupted with a furnace replacement. Also I bought an original 1968 Meyers Manx to restore and I've been tearing that down.
stitchdup Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Beautiful work on the wheel, looking forward to more. I'd love to see some pics of the manx also
