afx Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 Don't see this box art version of the AMT kit very often. 1

It is different from the AMT 67 Mustang kit, which is the one converted in to the 68 Shelby kit

The MPC kit became the Malco Gasser which in either case (AMT or MPC) makes them very sought after since neither the 67 or 68 stock fastback has been reissued using the original molds. It looks like some of the parts also made their way into the 69 MPC Mustang kits. Edited July 19, 2023 by vamach1

Danno Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Holiest holy grail of all for me is an accurate, detailed 1/25 Forcasta . . . in my opinion one of the finest radical customs Darryl Starbird ever created!! I have a couple of the original Cosma Rays and several of Greg Wann's resin reproductions . . . I even have a couple of the more rare Futurista kits! But what I don't have and enthusiastically desire is the beyond-rare Forcasta kit!!! 1
A modeler named mike Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Wow.. So many cool kits. Not sure just how rare but these are a few kits I've been able to score. I just picked up the '65 Chrysler this week on eBay for what I thought was a pretty good deal for a nice quality complete kit. 4
pack rat Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 On the bench right now (they're meant to be built). Not my absolute rarest piece, but one I was happy to pick up relatively cheap a few years ago. 5

Interesting that the Cougar Funny Car kit has the custom taillight on the clear red tree

Mark Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 I wouldn't doubt that the '69 Rebel is the lowest-production Jo-Han annual kit, ever. Not 100% accurate as a funny car though, as the Grant Rebel program ended in '68.

Didn't find much but some kits pictured had the custom tail light and some not. It's not shown on the instruction sheet as an option.

That tail light piece was from that kit and probably cheaper to leave on the tree then pay to have someone remove it.
1930fordpickup Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 That Palmer Vetter box art is awesome. Looks like a sinister villain car from a TV show or Movie.

The box art on the vetted and the cougar are what really drove me to purchase those two kits. Still hunting to score an amt candidate corvette Gasser kit or just an empty box ? that is without giving up an arm or leg for one. Love the old box art. 2
redscampi Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) I acquired this one fairly recently. I found out about it while looking for the Carl Casper phone booth kit. I think it qualifies as rare but there are a couple on eBay. Parts are all accounted for including the acetate for the windows and the rubber band to activate the "wheelie" motion. There is a bit of assembly started on the motor and the figure. Edited December 31, 2023 by redscampi 1

I've always liked the unusual and this one fits the bill. I've come close to pulling the trigger on this kit a few times but something more and enticing gets me excited. Neat kit! 1
A modeler named mike Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 (edited) Since I'm here I might as well share some more hard to get kits that I've acquired since my last posting. Still have some hunting to do! Just made an offer and was able to score it two days ago. Still waiting for it to arrive. Sealed but has a puncture wound in the box top..? Open/complete Open/complete Open/complete.. Nice! This kit was built as the stock hotrod leaving the FC parts unmolested. Open/complete but both a pillars are cracked. Still need to be repaired, Thanks to a few members here I was set straight on how to tackle that job. ? Open/complete Open/complete Edited January 1, 2024 by A modeler named mike Correction 1

( I don’t know a whole lot about trucks) My assumption is based on the fact that the kit you shared is an ERTL release, so it’s really not that old. Steve The ERTL International Transtar F-4270 is the second truck kit ERTL did themselves back in 1972-73 together with the International Transtar CO-4070A so it's fairly old and the F-4270 was altered to the 4300 Transtar Eagle and can't be reissued again in original form. The CO-4070A was changed to the CO-4070B Transtar II Eagle so it could not be reissued, but Round 2 has done a new tool of the CO-4070A so that's available, the CO-4070B Transtar II Eagle on the other hand will most likely not be reissued, ERTL owned by Tomy appearently still have the molds for it but I don't think we will see it again as they are out of the model kit business. So The Transtar II Eagle kit is not likely to be reissued, especially with the original air ride as it was changed to walking beam early in production...that is if not Round 2 can manage to get the molds from ERTL-Tomy who kept them when Round 2 got the tool bank from Tomy. Here is another that most likely woun't be reissued in this state, the regular DM 600 and DM 800 has been tho'. The farm tractor and accessory kits will most likely not be reissued either as I believe ERTL/Tomy still has the molds for them. And this one. 2
