Tabbysdaddy Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Made my stop at Hobby Lobby, got these two. As someone else has said, there was a spot marked for the 85 Z28 but none on the shelf. This was the only 81 Z28 on the shelf, so I'm guessing they're selling just fine. 3
TransAmMike Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 A lot of cool stuff picked up by you guys, but man, the prices are sure getting up there? 1
Dragonhawk1066 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 (edited) I was blessed enough to be able to make a trip to Hobby Lobby today to pick up a few kits for the first time in probably 6-8 months or so. Unfortunately it'll probably be another 6-8 months or longer for my next spree, so I took advantage. I was going to limit myself to 3 or 4 at the most, but the wife chose the '56 Thunderbird as a request, and talked me into the '71 Cuda for the $15 sale price. The '67 Vette and '69 Chevelle were the prime scores for me. No '71 442, '70 Road Runner, '85 Z28, or '55 Chevy to be had despite the shelf stickers for them. I got a few paints including the Pearl Magenta for the T-bird and some more much needed Createx Clear while we were there too. I also ordered some more tiny drill bits from Amazon. I was surprised to see how many kits on the HL shelves were at the $40 price point. Makes me wonder how long we will continue to see the 40% off week continue. Might be time to start checking out the yard/garage sales and resale places like Goodwill and such more often. Joe

Joe Crazy huh. I don't have a whole lot of unbuilt kit (about 30 I'm guessing) and it almost makes me want to think twice about buying a new one. Geez!!

RSchnell Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 Hit the HL by the house. I think they had the Porsche mis-priced....... I may go back in the morning and grab another one. I agree about the prices going up, but not much we can do about it except for not buying kits!

I'm in the process of looking to purchase decals for this escort and will let you know if theyre ready and available. we've a good group on FB , Classic Hot Rod Models All Scales. Go onthere for some Hotrod specific help if you want. Would be very interested to know about the decals. I don't do FB so if you could send me a message through here that would be great, thanks. I'm not looking to build a replica of any particular car, just something with look of a generic yellow/blue grade midfield runner that was a typical sight when I started going to Foxhall back in the early'80s. Simple two-tone paint scheme, one or two 'big name' decals and maybe use some of the stripes that came with the Zakspeed kit. 1

If you order, note that when I received my parts, they were grippy to the touch and flexible. Upon inquiry, he stated to put them in the sun for a bit, I would regulate that upon temp. I placed them out for several hours on an overcast day and seen a big improvement. I may put some out again for a time. Some layering is visible, but the parts sand up very nicely! Note the Vette is also made in larger scale, tempting!! 1

HomerS Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 The gem of the Dayton show/swap meet.....open and appears complete. I was shocked not one grabbed it from the bottom of the stack by the time I spotted it.....for $15. (pic plagiarized from eBay) 4
Dpate Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 (edited) New booth and kits over past 2 days. The custom booth i built just to small needed to upgrade even though i kept the dayton i bought for a spare. Ignore the wavelighting side bar light lol. Edited November 5, 2022 by Dpate 2
cobraman Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 I love those small kits. I wish they would have kept them going with more kits. 1

OldNYJim Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Hit the Lobby of Hobby this morning to look for the 36 Ford truck kit - but the spot marked for them was empty. They DID have some new stuff, but nothing I desperately wanted. Did pick up this MPC 34 kit so I can try fitting the front of it’s roof to this AMT sedan I’ve been messing with to improve that lumpy curve: Plus a marked-down display case, some glue, K&S brass and a clear ornament for when I get the urge to build a couple of bubble-tops 2

ranma Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 (edited) The haul from the once a month Flea Market in Decatur Indiana. I bought the aircraft and the ship for $5.00 each (parts still sealed in their bags) The MPC Mustang (sealed in it's bag) $10. while the C-1500 promo was $20, and the '59 Lincoln friction promo was a cheap $25.00!!!!!!!!!!! I kind of can't believe none of the regular kit manufacturer's ever did this one. It wouldn't happen to have come with a set of decals, those flames would be pretty tough to try to paint on?
Mike C. Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Got another one of my "holy grail" kits just now on eBay. Second "holy grail" kit this week. I always loved the KTM bikes of this era. This was my motorcycling era.

Maybe someone will do decals for me by the time I get to work on it. 1
