  1. Nice build! I have two that need to be finished!
  2. Wow! All this over a kit that is not even out! Nice!!
  3. Very nice! And kudos for building a vintage mint kit!
  4. I think the problem here is budget. It is a low buck production from what I have seen . Most of the cars in the movie are straight out of collections and museums and from what I can see, not many regular type racers around. You know, like the stuff you really see at the drags! Even More American Graffiti had regular filler cars in the track racing scenes. A big budget movie should be done about someone like Jungle Jim, The Surfers and Garlits. Like when Garlits first came out to the West Coast and had his butt handed to him and how he learned from it. We can hope that they do not give up on it.
  5. Thanks for the review! Not really into NASCAR kits, but this one is cool! BTW, someone on Spotlight asked about this kit and I posted about the review here. The posting disappeared. Does this board now sell kits?
  6. That Snake & Mongoose movie looks like an after school special! Horrible! Rush looks pretty worthy! What a shame
  7. I think it is pretty cool to have some items autographed for keepsakes. I have a few boxes signed but only one car, it is the Tamiya Jagermeister BMW kit that I had Mr. Tamiya sign for me at Tamiya Con a few years ago. It was the first time anyone had asked him to sign a model! Pretty cool of Ken Block to sign it for you. Not to hi jack your thread, but, who else has autographed kit boxes or kits?
  8. Glad the site is back up! Getting pretty tired of the same old stuff on Stoplight!
  9. Wow, a surf band from Colorado! Its like saying, my favorite polka band from Japan! LOL!
  10. That is the same car, Scott, just without the body. It was built by Noel Black and it was never intended to be a dragster, but that is where they tested it. I think it hit 300+ when it killed him.
  11. Cool project! Reminds me of a story Cole Coonce wrote in Super Stock about a Front Engine Dragster with dual rear wheels that John Force and a few other guys where scheming up. There was a crude drawing of it on a napkin and a very funny story! I think it was all make beliveve, but it made for good reading! Can't wait to see it done!
  12. Making tube axles out of Evergreen, or other brands, is not that hard and the results are nice! Leaf springs can be made or you can mix and match from various kits. Don't forget that most Gassers used stock from I-Beam axles from production cars. Pick Up straight axles, like the Revell 56 Pick Up or the Lindberg Little Red Wagon have great axles for this. The early Revell kits are fuzzy, but, once you get them figured out, they work quite nicely. Only a few kits came with dedicated "Gasser" straight axles and most of them are not that great. The easiest and plainest has to be the one in the Revell Tri Five kits. Very simple, but effective! Have fun!
  13. Pegasus Hobbies in Montclair, California http://pegasushobbies.net/catalog/ How good are they? They have their own line of kits and aftermarket parts!
  14. Very nice! I like it!!
  15. All time classic kit and you did a fantastic job with it! Nice!
  16. I need to build the Gray one next and get my hands on the large flare version! That thing is cool!
  17. Rob, you car is confused. Is it a Road Warrior, Rat Rod style, Pro Touring or a Street Machine? It just lacks the details to push it firmly into any of these categories. And the finish is not helping. I know, it was the look you wanted, but, as a judge we expect some pop. Everything appears to be just one piece. Subtle color shift would have done wonders. I like it, but, honestly, I would eliminate it from the judging when I first look at the table. I only enter models to help fill tables at the local contest. I never expect to win and I listen when folks critique my models. Even when someone is clearly bashing me, I try to draw something useful out of it. Reading about people not being encouraged to build is baloney. You should be building because it is your passion, not because someone is pushing you to do it. When it comes to building, we, not them, are our own worst enemys. We can head the advice or keep plowing into the same walls. If you expect to win contest, then build to win. Need more crazy thoughts, just ask! Jesse C.
  18. The 67 Never came as a clear bodied kit. It was the '69 that had the clear one piece body.
  19. I remember when our neighbor bought one. Orange with a plaid interior! Nice!! We called it the moon car and my dad called it a fishbowl! A few year back I was at the local car parts swap and this guy had a box of these pacer kits, for only $5 bucks each! And I walked away from it!!! Insert sound of palm slamming into forehead! Glad that the 70's are cool again! Bring them on Round 2!
  20. I use ebay, LHS, kit shows and model shows. Plus, it also helps being in a model car club. Some members usually bring in kits to sell or trade and you can always announce a request at the meeting and get some pretty cool deals going. My LHS usually is used for the new stuff or supplies, the kit shows are a great place to buy in bulk and find the cool vintage stuff at a great price without shipping.
  21. Great trade with Austin T! Thanks again!
  22. I am looking into trying to mate the rear of the BossNova Funny Car wagon onto the Hasegawa four door kit to try and make a wagon. As for the Revell kit, I have a spare body and I think the Doyusha Bluebird wheel wells might work on it. But, I also conisdered cutting off the flares and making a box flared 510 out of it. Another option is to convert the four door Hasegawa kit into a two door. Remember, the wheelbase on the four door and the two door cars are the same and a few have actually done this conversion on the 1:1 cars. Just something to think about.
