  1. Awesome truck, very nicely detailed
  2. Thanks ? Got a splash of paint on the roof rack. Come up really nice, canopy or bullbar will be next.
  3. Thanks for the replys, I will definatly be looking into the Hudson hornet kits and will try and chase up one of those resin kit 8 cylinders.
  4. I have made a start on the more time consuming parts of this build. I have made my roof rack. It's made of 25 pieces using sheet styrene, pieces of sprue and i used offcuts of metal fly screen for the mesh. This kit came with spotlights so that was good. I like to use my sprues and runners where i can and save the curved pieces and straight lengths as it comes in handy making this sort of thing.
  5. I am looking for a 1/25 or 1/24 scale Pontiac straight 8 or straight 6 for a project. what kits have these? there was resin straight 8s but the seller is no longer in business. I know there's a monogram Packard with a straight 8 but its expensive and I only need the engine. anyone know of other kits that have flathead straight 8's or 6 cyls that are readily available? or anyone else doing resin kits of these engines? in model form it doesn't matter if its a Packard or other brand motor, just a after a close looking one.
  6. Those jeep wheels look pretty close, definatly an option. Interior is done, not a lot of detail to add. My car is the base model so it's basicly all grey. Hopefully i can get started on the scratch building of the bullbar soon.
  7. Got a start on this one today, chassis almost done, interior parts painted. I have mocked it up to see the ride height and i'm happy, i have started weathering the chassis, added scratches to the bashplate and lower parts of the chassis. Still need to make it look dirty. I need a set of bigger tyres and wheels to suit mine, I have worked out 34mm or 35mm diamiter should be the right size for scale 33 inch tyres. If anyone knows of a kit that has these rims or if they are available in resin?
  8. Great work on the body damage, very realistic.
  9. looks amazing, where did you get the packard straight 8?
  10. beautiful paintwork, it's coming along nicely.
  11. Nice looking chevy ?
  12. Greetings form Australia, My name is James. I am hoping to dive back into this hobby now that I have the time. I used to be on here a few years ago when I was still in school, building models regularly. I got started in model building because the real cars were out of reach, with models I could work on and customize vehicles to how I wanted with ease. As life goes on the real cars became available to me and I guess I just switched scale to the 1:1. I have completed a couple in my break from modeling and am now getting into a few Toyota models which crosses over to another hobby; camping and 4x4ing. I still have a few unfinished models going back to 2014 that I will work my way back to, for now I will focus on recreating my Hilux and work my way back to the old projects. I Hope to see some familiar names still here and be back here posting regularly as i was.
  13. Great looking pickup, the model matches the 1:1 nicely.
  14. Great work on the impala, the trunk detail, weapons and cooler are awesome touches.
  15. It has been a long time since i was building models, i used to build them almost monthly then i moved on to working on full sized cars. With our area in lockdown from covid it has given me a chance to get back into them. I thought a great start would be replicating my 2003 Hilux. The closest kit available is the Aoshima LN107, i have in the past heavily modified cars to match the real thing ( doing 4 door conversions and reshaping roofs) . This time round i will be doing a very close replica, i won't be doing too much with the body on this, the front end is close enough. I will be making the bullbar, side steps, rear bar racks and conopy. My Hilux has a 2 inch suspention and 2 inch body lift. I have made platforms to lift the ride height and maintain steerable wheels and have altered the cv shaft angles to suit. I would be interested to know what kits have 33 scale inch mud tires and 8 hole steel rims like mine. The kit tyres are 29 scale inches. Heres my Hilux and what i've started.
  16. I haven't posted here in a while as i have many builds on the bench and other things happening. Anyway i have finished this one off, basicly stock except i painted the rims black and used a custom mixed colour for the exterior. Let me know what you think.
  17. Thanks for the comments everyone. I have got the trunk out and am working on the door jams and panel gaps. as you can see i need to get those door gaps tighter and fix a few spots. i will have more pictures soon. Let me know what you think.
