  1. When you take inflation in general in to account, I don't think what we're paying is all that bad. Back in the 60's when car models were about $2.00 a kit, comic books were 12 cents. It's been awhile since I bought a new comic book, but the last time I did, they were $3.00 or more per issue. When comic books were going for 12 cents, a pack of gum was only 5 cents, candy bars 10 cents, and can of pop 15. Go to a bar and see what a night of drinking will cost you now days. Thankfully I don't drink. It's all a matter of perspective. Despite the price of kits today, I'm able to and am buying a lot more of them than I did when I was a kid, saving my lawn mowing money. 2. Any other photos of the Meteor wagons and Rancheros? I wish Revell would make Meteor variations of their '57 Fords. And yes I know about AMT's '57 Ford including a Meteor grille. But it's not a complete Meteor grille. The wrap around into the fenders is missing. Plus all other Meteor trim features are missing from all of the '57 Ford kits. Should have noted, I would like to see more of the Meteor Ranchero above. They are as rare as hen teeth, and offered only one year. Scott
  3. Last night, I won a 2014 Corvette promo on eBay. Been waiting for these to become available. Scott
  4. The Pinto above remind of a song on Click and Clack's CD, "Stairway to Heapdom." It's called "Pinto Squire" by a group called The Strange Tones. Had a buddy who owned a green one years ago. The song described his car pretty well. And now when ever I see a Pinto, especially a Squire, I can't help but think of the song. Scott
  5. What is the word on the Tamiya slot cars above? This is the first I've ever heard of Tamyia offering America subjects. I hope this is something new, and non-slot cars versions of these cars become available. I love Tamyia's kits (or Tamyia anything for that matter). And it would be very cool to see Tamyia start offering kits of older American cars, like the two above. I especially want the Plymouth. Scott
  6. A model of an OBGYN office? I know what a OBGYN is. I just didn't expect a model of an OBGYN doctors office. Why a kit of this? The Japanese have offered some strang kits over the years. But, that might take the cake! I wonder why an OBGYN, and not just any doctors office? And I wonder, does the kit come with a model of a doctor and a patient having an exam? This is a strange one. Scott
  7. We had a "club build" at the library where our model club normally meets, yesterday. Another great time with the guys from the club. We just brought in some of our kits. Our tools. And did what ever could be done without spray painting. Had breakfast at a local restaurant before the build. Pizza in the afternoon. Car movies in the background. One member brought his grandson, who is in his early teens, and who did a great job detail painting his Batman and Robin figures for his Polar Lights 1/32nd scale Batmobile kit. A chip off the old block. His grandfather is one of the best figure painters in the club. Our club leader, sitting next to me, was working on replicating the Mooneyes dragster from a recent issue of Model Cars magazine. Very cool! I work on my Fujimi Porsche 917K. It was fun to see the diversity of kits people brought. We also had non-members/non-builders stopping in to see what we were up to. A good way to promote the hobby. A very fun time, with a lot of great guys. What more can one ask for? Scott
  8. Well I care. I enjoy a good joke. If I get them. Scott
  9. Of the 3 jokes above, I only get the last one. Scott
  10. Cadillac did see the future coming in the in 1970's. Hence, the Seville. What one needs to understand is GM, Ford, and Chrysler, were building the right cars back in the early 70's. Look at the sales of American cars right up though the 1973 model year. Big cars sold. Chevrolet, Ford, and Plymouth sold a lot of Impalas/Caprices, LTDs, and Furys before 1974. Buick had their best year up until that point in 1973. The number one selling luxury car in the world at that time was the Cadillac DeVille. Cadillac was recording record sales too in '73. At the same time, even before the fuel crisis of 1974, GM saw the handwriting on the wall, and started designing smaller fullsize cars for the future. The downsizing of GM's fullsize cars in 1977 were not just a response to the fuel crisis. GM's timing was right. And despite my opinion of them, they too were big hits. And I did and do like them. Just not as much as the cars before them. They were good cars. Right for the time. But, I missed things like the hardtop body styles. American automobile manufacturers were building the right cars up until the Israeli-Arab war in the fall of '73. Japanesse cars had been showing upward sales, even before that. But, nothing like they'd show once fuel got tight. Then Americans not only found the Japansse cars to be more fuel efficient, but better built besides. Still like a lot of Americans, I like big American cars. CAFE regulations have made them impossible to be built anymore. So what have American drivers turned to? Big American trucks. To the point that even Cadillac has had to offer them in recent years. Interesting, a friend of mine has 13 year old twin girls. They go to the new car show with us every year now. And what do they want to own more than anyother vehicle out there? A Cadillac Escalade. Scott
  11. What flaws are those? My sedan looks right on. What little I've seen so far, the wagon looks like it will be good too. What am I missing here? Scott
  12. Another great review Tim! Looking forward to adding this kit to my collection. My only question now is color paint in Tamiya's spay cans will come close to matching the color of the U.N.C.L.E. car? Scott
  13. Ease up Casey. It was only his 2nd post. Scott
  14. Again, this is what I want. That and the Corvair Ramside, also shown earlier. Scott
  15. That's ugly even if it really was an Oldsmobile. Any why wonder GM is in the shape it's in now? Designs like this are the reason there is no more Oldsmobile. Scott
  16. I have to go along with you on this one. Tough to beat any Caddy built between 1948 and 1976. Pre-war, I like 2nd generation V-16s, and any Cadillac (or anyother GM car for that matter) built in 1941. But, between '48 and '76, there are so many good ones to choose from. The '48 and '49 Sedanet. 1954, '55, or '56. I like '58s, but I'm not hot on the '57s. The '59 Cadillac is the only case in GM where I like the '59s better than the '60s. I like the even year Caddys through the 60's, plus the '67s. The '70s? Every year through '76. The only weak year there is '74. Rear drive Caddys from that point on are okay. Some better than others. Scott
  17. As stated before, I bought one in the last year. And I have not had one problem with mine popping apart. I love my Tamiya paint stand. The darn thing is near perfect as far as I can tell. I also have not tried taking my stand apart in any way yet. Have not found a reason to do so. So maybe that's why mine stays together and works so well? Scott
  18. Man, you guys know how to tease a person. It's cruel how well you guys do it. Scott
  19. Today I got another cool kit from Tokyo-Hobby, Fujimi's Porsche 917K '70 Le Mans Gulf color. Also, the day before yesterday I got the decals I needed to convert my MPC '73 Chevy Caprice into a RCMP car. Scott
  20. I have a recent, from the last twenty years, version of the the kit laying around unbuilt. If this kit is no different overall from that one, I'll more than likely be passing on this one. Scott
  21. Does very little for me. Scott
  22. Please bring CARtoons back. Have Krass and Bernie back in there. Unk and the Varmints would be cool too. Some new stuff, but I'm more with Dennis on that. Please make it come out every other month, and I'll subscribe. Scott
  23. This one I really want! Scott
  24. The car is okay. But the video in general is boring. Scott
  25. I hope more are still coming. I'm still hoping for Tom Daniel's Poison Pinto (hopefully the green version) and the Rat Vega will someday appear again. Scott
