What did you see on the road today?

Flat black primer with red steelies is something that never goes out of style and looks good on just about any old car. -

Georgous Cougar. It looks like a 1967. It also looks like some sort of badge on the rear quarter panel because it is not the correct shape for the '68 side marker light. -
It is a 1915, and is a copy of a car that was on the show circuit and in magazines at the time. The original issue of the kit had gold plated trees and not chrome to try and replicate the brass work on the actual car. Ray, that orange will be perfect for this.

Ray, I know you saw mine, and it does look good with minimal or no chrome. Just remember to go to Walmart and get your $15 display case. ? I will be watching your take on this one.

Mopar steelies and dog dish caps...

Good to know about the Fireball products. I have a Duster project planned with the slant six out of the 64 dodge 330 kit and a resin bench seat I picked up. -
Great job Al, one sweet looking ride. ?

My older sister still has her first car that dad gave her when she turned 16. A 1965 Galaxie 500 convertible. It is in need of an entire restoration at this time, but her husband can handle it. She wants it restored to original condition yet she was lamenting the fact that she really couldn't use it as a reliable and safe daily driver. I informed her that she could do so and still keep it looking all original and anything done could always be undone easy enough. I showed her that she could add electronic ignition with either a module or replacement distributer, change out the carburetor for a fuel injection setup, and add a disc brake conversion kit up front, and dual master cylinder if needed.(it already has power steering and brakes) If she wanted to keep the rpm down at 80 (freeway speed in her state) she could always switch out the C4 for a mechanical OD unit from the early 80's. As far as amenities, easy enough to add an aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth and updated speakers that fit in the factory locations. Add a vintage air system if you want to chill in the summer. Heated seats and cruise control could be added as well. All of these are pretty basic upgrades that can make your driving experience that much more enjoyable. If it's enjoyable, you will drive it more.

I was hunting through my Falcon/Ranchero box to find the bits needed for my recently purchased four door wagon. I use Rancheros for their donor parts and always have some extra bodies. I was moving a couple of the bodies out of the way when all of a sudden this huge squirrel flashed across my eyes so fast that I think I am suffering from whiplash. Here is the squirrel in an extremely rough, taped together idea. I kinda like it. Remove the extra set of door handles, fill in the extra door lines, level out the roof and rocker panels, and voila! Xcab Ranchero!

Really like all of them, especially the last one...because you can drive it.

I don't care for the grill and scoop either. Grill looks like it came off a Valiant , and the scoop looks Mopar as well. Would look better body color though. I didn't look any further than the picture that was posted, but if it has a Hemi in it, then I understand the grill and scoop. ?

It's a gm color from Duplicolor. DSGM302 Light blue metallic. -
Just checked, the 1903 Ford is a Franklin mint as well. Seems to be the more valuable of the bunch. Too bad it is missing that one curved brass part.
-
The Mint cars are beautiful and appear to be all there. I do prefer plastic though, and have permission to do with them what I want...so they might get turned into something I can build. I also love the motorcycle models. Best of the tamiya kits in my opinion.

I have not been active in this part of the forum for awhile, my apologies. My daughter-in-law came to visit tonight and she brought me these. I immediately put them in a display case. Two of them are Franklin Mint. I will leave you to guess which ones. No rot, and in pristine condition. Her grandfather gave them to her and her brothers but they had no interest, but they thought of me. I can do what I want with them. Have not decided if I will keep them or not. The mint ones are absolutely stunning.

I sent an email from their faq tag asking when this particular body would be available. He responded right away and said he might have one left. He did.

This just came in from RMR. One more for my first gen Falcon collection. A four door wagon. It came with interior tub and clear acetate for rear windows. He also threw in most of what is needed from the Ranchero donor kit. Absolutely the best guy to deal with.

Sorry Steve, no wip...yet. I cannot figure out when a wip is motivation, or the kiss of death. Here is where I am at. I am being held up with the bmf. I have no idea why I love the era of excess...right up 'till foil time. I need to source a set of pe Elcamino badges, instrument decals, and a decal sheet of seat patterns I heard about. It has 59 Caddy wheels and engine.
