  1. M&S Hobbies is releasing a resin curbside kit of this car, and from what I have seen it looks like a nice kit. However I wanted to try my hand at building this car with full detail. I personally feel the MPC kit of the Monza is the most accurate. AMT and Revell also offer their own versions. MPC dropped the ball however with the racing body panels, AMT’s version more accurately represent the 1:1. So starting with the MPC body I grafted on the AMT panels. Still lots of shaping and cleanup work to do along with adding the wrap-around rear spoiler but not a bad start.
  2. The pending release of M&S Hobbies Dekon Monza resin kit was the kick in the rear I needed to finally attempt to build this car. However I don't want to use the resin kit but instead do a full detail build based on the MPC kit. I have already started work on the body but I am unsure what to use for a chassis. Right now I am considering using the Revell Mustang GTO as a basis. Wondering if anyone else has an opinion or a better option to suggest?

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out David.
  4. Looks like you did quit a bit of sanding on the tires to get them flat. They look good now.
  5. They turned out nice - good work.
  6. I have a few of the Enthusiast Ferraris in the stash. Nice to see one being built.
  7. I believe that was advice. If you dislike being around children no amount of advice is going to change that.

Thanks Dann and John. Now I just have the settle on which car I want to build.
  9. No offense but I think you already posted a very similar thread.
  10. Any doubt about how dangerous this races is: http://www.motorsport.com/roadracing/news/two-fatalities-in-a-single-day-rock-the-2016-isle-of-man-tt-743709/
  11. Do you have any photos of the prototype?

Thanks Randy. Thank you too Scott. I put a lot of effort into making sure everything fits properly. I like to drill and pin parts, helps makes final assembly much cleaner. I spent about an hour creating the side vent openings. In the picture the side vents are only friction fit. Pins are holding the side pipe in place.
  13. Looking forward to this project Randy. Are you taking a break from the GT40?
  14. Here is an example from a Cobra/Ace build I am currently working on. The modified chassis in on the right. You can see I had to remove one cross member, reposition the transmission support and fabricate new motor mounts.

Most of the race cars had side vents. Yea that's right the idea of the side vents for the Cobra also came from the Ace. I modified the resin body to add vents which are resin copies of those from the Sunny/Academy 427 Cobra kit.
  16. Looks great Andy. You should show it to Scale Production and see if they might cast it.
  17. The Revell 427s are pretty cheap these days. I buy them for parts kits.
  18. Awesome! Been collecting reference material for awhile in hopes of attempting one of these.
  19. I custom mix my own "tire black". I don't have a recipe but I start with flat black and then add gray until I think it looks right.

He hasn't mentioned potential kit cost to me Bill. I just gave him another BMW 328 kit to use for the engine.
  21. Very nice Brian.
