  1. TThe base can easily be made from .010 Evergreen sheet stock. Or aluminum or brass stock. Just turn the air cleaner over, trace the outline and cut it out.

  4. Hey Husky1943 ! Welcome ! This site is full of accomplished builders, and they don't mind sharing their "secrets" with everyone here. That's what makes this board great!
  5. Thanks for the information Alan. Are you going to continue on with your '38 Ford street rod project? I'm really interested ,because I want to try a '38 Ford woody rod. I hope my skill level improves enough to attempt my ambitious project. Your models are a true inspiration to me! Thanks again. Bast wishes.
  6. Happy birthday to you Mr. Tim Pentecost. I see that you haven't posted here in 5 years. I sincerely hope all is well with you and yours. Best wishes!

  7. Way cool!! Great job on the '40 to a '38 conversion. How did you finally make that '38 grill? Thin brass rods? Plastic? The dents look real too.

  9. You have a great start so far. Don't give up. Your work inspires me of lesser abilities ( maybe lots of others too)!
  10. I like the '38 Fords. I have no idea why there hasn't been a kit of one. I had a resin kit of one years ago. Forgot who cast it. (Chucky 151)? I want to make a '38 woody from an old Art Anderson '40 woody resin kit. My skill level is nowhere yours tho. May I suggest using an AMT '40 Ford grille, and filing/sanding the grill bars off till you get the general '38 shape? Then scribe the heart-shaped bars for your street rod?
  11. I,m no paint expert by any means, but if you use Tamiya primer under Testor's enamel color coats, then use Tester,s clear coat. Be sure to use an enamel clear. You can put enamel over laquer, but not laquer over enamel.Personally, if I was using Testor's color coats, I would use Testor's primer and Testor's clear coats

  25. Bill, just a suggestion here. Instead of cutting the top off where the windshield frame locates to the hardtop, cut straight across the top even with the vent windows. Then you can whittle sunvisors into the remaining top portion. If you are using an up-top, you will have to thin the visors so the top will fit. Lots of work, but worth the effort. That's how I did mine.
