  1. Interesting, how does the engraving from the bodies (and related parts) compare between the '75 & '76 Monza? I have a few of the Builck's and one Monza, don't remember the year, only that it's molded in yellow.
  2. And to think it was a Buick first.
  3. You can do a whole lot more with those Emek trucks, here's one (re-)build by my Dad, using bits of Italeri and a lots of scratch building... This is a model of an Belgian army truck used to haul tanks etc..BTW the tank is scratch build too...
  4. I fail to see the problem, one guy bids $10 the other $20 but puts his bid in the last few seconds, so the second guy wins. Another example, the first bidder bids $20, but the items stays at the opeing bid of $5, the last few seconds another possible buyer bids, $15, so who wins now?
  5. Sure....here a 1/24 scale WWII GMC truck work in progress by my Dad (Eddy Janssens), the cab is resin, the rest is scratch build.
  6. http://www.die-leitplanke.de/1-herzlich-willkommen/14-bausatz-zubeh%C3%B6r-neuheiten/iveco-stralis-italeri-m1-24-formenneuheit-2012-13/
  7. There are still humans in the spray booths, to paint areas, where it would be costly or to difficult to program a robot or tool special "hold open" devices which do not hinder the paint process. Bodies are painted on skids and there will be overspray on the chassis near the rocker panels, the rest (front or rear section of the car) is covered up by fr & rr facias, wheel wells are ether covered by a black paint (to hide the primer) and black plastic fenderliners...
  8. Don't think so, I assume box-art, decals have to be approved, same for the newly tooled parts (if they're already tooled up) then one has to have a few pre-production kits made to check conformity, scheduling production time, then shipping, clearing customs, etc.... BTW Dave, any plans to do the same with the Revell '57 Chevy 150, to get the most bang for the buck tooling wise? Now we only need a '50s Ambulance and wrecker...
  9. here's a pic of Revell's ''59 body...I went over the mold separation line with a blue pencil to make it more visible on photo....
  10. They were Grand Cherokee's. I think I remember reading that the GC and the Wrangler were tooled up due to the influence of the German Importer of Tamiya kits.
  11. What I especially like about some if not most of the Jo-Han kits, is the window trim, which is a crisp engraving and not some sometimes blurry line. Also clear headlamps on their '69 Roadrunner, while the '90s amt/ertl kit, has them engraved in their chrome grille....they had some great craftsmen on board....
  12. I wonder why kits were made of the '90s Blazer & Explorer, but none of this one, which sold worldwide and loved by off roader's around the globe. It's not stylish, but boxy and has an attitude especially when dressed up with the right accessories. Man..if I would be king!
  13. An example of one piece, Revell's '99 Chevy Silverado An example of multi piece, Monogram's '78 GMC with snowplow. Thanks in advance for your input...
  14. My first job was at Verlinden Productions, casting ceramic ruins, did warehouse duty proccesing orders from all over the globe and also casting resin items, an argument with the boss his son ended that. Second job lasted over 20 years, General Motors Belgium (aka General Motors Continental and Opel Belgium) started working on the assy' line then moved on to pilot vehicles, building late prototype vehicle at the GM tech center in Rüsselsheim Germany, then pilot cars, pouring it into 80 sec (takt time) line jobs, training, pre-production, follow-up and through, linebalancing, etc..., the position I held before 80 or so years, of assembling GM vehicles in Belgium ceased, was checking the quality and conformity of our products and policing the Quality inspectors, both in and outside the plant Now I rolled into HVAC as a maintenance guy, don't love the job, but it's less venerable to weak economic times and enables me to pay the bills....
  15. IMHO Revell is doing one heck of a great job, compared to a decade or so ago, who knows what they're cooking in their R&D kitchen for future releases...I'm glad I'm finally getting a '70 'cuda.....the rest is icing on the cake,...however there's one car I definitely wouldn't say no too, if tooled up as a 1/25 scale model kit, but frankly I'm also aware, that it's one of those "never in a million years" kinda subject, one of the reasons I dug deep into my wallet and bought a resin copy of it's sister car, by Air-Trax.
  16. Found the following on the pages of the Revell Germany site.... Answering a few questions... 07092 MINI COOPER 998 Mk.I - True-to-original bodywork with fine surface details - Separate movable bonnet - Multipart detailed 4-cylinder engine - Separate exhaust assembly - Detailed interior with dashboard, front seats and rear bench seat - Build as optional left or right hand drive - Movable wheels - Two optional front radiator versions to build - Various chrome parts including wheel caps, door handles and lamps - Imitation rubber wheels - Instructions and authentic decals with different markings http://www.revell.de/?id=1016&L=1
  17. Some additional info bout the Opel GT kit, it will have 3 hoods, all reworked, the original drag hood with the hole in it, has been retooled, other drag parts have been retooled/restored as well - it's the best mix of parts from all issues and it will have real metal injector stacks for the drag motor.
  18. Too bad, I wouldn't mind seeing a 1/12 '69 Charger.
  19. They "only" had to add the "Police specific", parts to an already existing kit...which probably were already on the drawing board, when they were designing the diecast versions of the Police Charger, so I assume a bit cheaper, then an all new tool. But Steve Goldman, will know for sure....
  20. A couple of years ago, I ordered a couple of Coke crates from him, was very satisfied with the product and the transaction.
  21. Thanks for the info, Harry!
  22. Hmm, "blew it again", blew what? They release a great subject, and offer an alternative version, reminicent of an old racing vehicle or maybe a tribute. I'm sure resin casters will coime up with the "right" body style, so praise Revell that you don't have to look out for a $15 decal sheet... A good thing Bill isn't around anymore to read this krap even before the kit is released!!!
  23. My favorite book, is a series broken down per decade, "Cars of the..." '40s, '50s, '60s and '70s by Publications international.ltd.
