Moebius Models Under New Ownership
Luc Janssens replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's Pegasus hobbies, I met the guys on one of the last Chicago hobby trade shows, but forgot their names. Been to their store in CA a few times too, good folks they once gave me a freebie, just because I came all the way from Belgium One of the things I remember is that while at the store the clerks (or how do you say that) packaged tire sets on their down time, a clever thing I thought at the time, cuz my job at GM back then was to eliminate downtime, thus making sure the assembly workers were productive. -
RIP Tom West

My condolences Art. Never knew him, but saw his name pop up sometimes in online conversations. -
Moebius Models '59 Dodge & Chrysler Turbine Car.
Luc Janssens replied to W-409's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Okey Spaulding couldn't keep it afloat, IMC (Illinois Model Company) couldn't fire it up again, and after 4 years I'm pretty sure Moebius gave up on it too. Everything Jo-Han is contaminated, it's a hornets nest, a can of worms, think John Handley cast a spell on his legacy, just before he traded the temporary for the eternal. My 2 cents, if you want anything Jo-Han, prepare to spend some serous cash to buy a kit on the secondary market.... -
When looking at the box-art cars, the front bumper looks odd, like not pushed deep enough into the front clip, is this a fit issue?

Scania LB 141
Luc Janssens replied to BlackDragon's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Remember those well, cuz the little town I grew up in had a trucking company, the name Van Laer, the company colors were orange cab, and blue chassis and they only used Scania trucks. -
1/25 AMT '62 Pontiac Catalina Polyglas Gasser II
Luc Janssens replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Very plausible explanation, too many (me included) look at this from a modelers standpoint, instead of cold hard business. -
GREAT idea, Amt has a Ford F350 camper special, but no camper to go along with it, it's 40 years over due! Also a great idea would be a wrecker body, no....not, and I really mean it, when I say NOT, that crappy toy thing that was last used in the DOH "Cooter's tow truck" release, that tool or insert for my part may be recycled, there I said it !

History of MPC's Fifth Generation El Camino Kits
Luc Janssens replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
This is the one you needed if you wanted to build a stock one, I'm sure there are plenty of them on the secondary market, IIRC Revell also re-issued this one in a combo box, with trailer and speed boat. Think this kit is far superior to the Mpc offering, only for some the scale is a no no -
Same for me, I love parts hunting for a project I see finished in my mind, then I loose interest, and I'm digging into something else, but I'm happy

Thanks, that is something I would add to a serious off roader set, IIRC the Esci Camel Trophy Range Rover had these as extra's to put on the roof rack. Not to hijack the tread but IMHO Round2 should seriously into the following Releasing the Mpc 4x4 Ford Econoline Van, but with backdated round headlamp (this time with clear lenses) grille again, together with the dirt bikes and trailer, the van being a mobile work shop with all the goodies (see Fujimi garare sets) a roof rack with marston mat, spare tires etc...I can dream can't I? Now back to the regular program....

A good one Casey... Hmm GM 4x4 parts to turn some of the kitted Amt/Mpc GM pickups into all wheeldrive vehicles Ford 4x4 parts to turn some of the kitted Amt/Mpc FoMoCo pickups into all wheeldrive vehicles Mopar 4x4 parts to turn some of the kitted Amt/Mpc Mopar pickups into all wheeldrive vehicles a clear headlamp set, something like MV lenses offer's but better, with actual engraving on the clear, different sizes to fit most vintage Am/Mpc kits, round but also rectangular so kits like the Mpc Pinto Poney express, and the like, too can benefit from this Then adding to your proposals 1) add some decals as well 4) some real Jerry cans, the metal ones like used by the US army 5) 2 sets of wheel & tire set in one box, different themes, 60's aftermarket, 70s Street machine, and further to the Restomod combo.... Will post more if more pops into my mind...

I know, have one in the stash, it's a versatile vehicle, looking at all the box-art pics Casey posted, and if all the inserts, of all of the optional building versions survived, a killer mega multiple build kit possibility.

These will do just fine, thanks for the pics Casey!

Some questions I'd like to pose out of curiosity - will it take much to backdate this tool into the previous style model? - How much will it cost? - Is there a market for this? yeah, if this edit work I can post again on the MC board!

great job!

Yeah...I'm waiting for that one too, can't be much longer now, early Q2?
