What did you see on the road today?
Luc Janssens replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, I love these mid to late Ford wagons....I'm sure many of you already know -
One would think that because of the success Moebius is having with their Ford pickup truck lineup, that Round-2 would get into gear and start tooling up some siblings, like a standard long and short bed configuration. Better still a period correct tow truck, cuz we don't have any of those. Anyway, it's a pitty all hose babyboomer's, only want rehashes, of kits they had as a kid. Hey guys...put off those blinkers

Ghost Kits - Shown But Never Released

I'm glad I picked up a bunch of them on ebay, back then, when prices were reasonable. -

Like this model, there's one for sale at a classic auto dealer near my folks, he's asking 17,000.00 for it, but with a dented bed and in need of a paint job, I don't think so. He has also a '68 Firebird, that one has a very nice paint job, aside from tiny rust spots just below the rubber from the backlite, and one on the header-panel, so also a no-no to me, cuz what else is hiding? -

Back in the late 70s an uncle of mine drove one, his next car was a Honda Prelude. -
Ghost Kits - Shown But Never Released
Luc Janssens replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Wonder how much the cost is to "downsize" the 1/20 scale Econoline to 1/25th. About window van's in general, is it...that they didn't sell well enough, or was it the Van craze, that contributed to their demise in the model kit world? Anyway we're sliding off topic here....or did it morphed into the ghosts of kits past -
Strange that they didn't altered the shape a bit, to avoid that parting line. I'm sure mods like that, will be less noticeable then the big "60s promo way" of molding things... Maybe next time Dave could send some test shots over to me, for evaluations, hint, hint, cuz an outsider has a more fresh look

Revell Charger Daytona - what happened?
Luc Janssens replied to Kmb0319's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Who knows...maybe the answer could be as simple, like a shipping container not being full, due to one or several items, not being available for shipping. -
Ghost Kits - Shown But Never Released
Luc Janssens replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I fully agree with you, IMHO that era Dodge Van passed both Dodge and Ford in the styling department. Round-2 can copy the body (plus front clip ((with clear headlamps this time)) and taillights with chrome surrounds)of an vintage kit, to put on the chassis of the '80 the original tooling morphed into, show a black Van with flames on the front clip on the box-art (like in the TV movie of a maniac driving nurses off the road) Alternate just like you mentioned, with bike and workshop, but upgraded a bit with roof-rack, Jerry cans, treadplates and tools (look at Fujimi garage tools guys) A it's soo nice to dream isn't it -

Also the first came with round headlamps, the later ones with dual rectangular ones. I like the 4x4's with the round headlamp treatment better. Bougth a couple of them over the years, an no...not from that ebay guy who wants between 100 and 200 greenies, cuz you can still find them for $25-30 if you're palatially waiting for the kill (-er deal IMHO Round-2 would do good if they re-release the round-headlamp one with 2 motor cross motorcycles and trailer, as a sort of late '70s amateur (non-professional) motorcycle team. If they start looking in to it right now, it could be ready for under the Christmas tree by 2018, the perfect holiday gift! -
AMT Future Releases Interesting
Luc Janssens replied to regular guy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Back in the '90s Amt's Blueprinter magazine, printed a list of possible subjects to release as Blueprinter exclusives, one of these items was the Polyglas Gasser kit. I'm guessing that while their records at that time, showed that they had the tool, they hadn't, or it was too far gone to salvage. Maybe Dave Darby has some additional info on what happened back then, cuz he had good contacts with Karen Sands of Ertl. -

Could be, cuz first they were retail (brick and mortar plus Mail-order) only, and since a year or two distributor too. -

Belkits Opel Manta 400. Test Shots
Luc Janssens replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Most likely due to import fees (entering Europe) and half a world of transport, then there's the currency issue....which all add up. -
I wonder if the mold is busted.
Luc Janssens replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just guessing, but it looks like the "problem" was catched during the run, and the quickest fix was to run some additional (to be plated) trees and clip off the the needed part. Then after the run (full or short) I'm sure they will fix the tool, anyway that's how I should do it.... -
Belkits Opel Manta 400. Test Shots
Luc Janssens replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Briefly visited a hobby show today and talked with one of the Domino/Belkits rep's there, and the Manta won't be available till next year. While the kit is in production as I write this, they did had a small delay due to a licensing issue, nothing major, cuz the run should be done by mid next week...but it pushed back the release date a bit, so early 2018. -
What would YOU like to see as a model
Luc Janssens replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Steve, is that what the Volare/Aspen morphed in?...anyway looks like the designers put in the headlamp/parking-light housing upside down, Ford did it better with their Crown Vic's, boxy..yet still stylish... -

In the early 80s Chrysler cars were boxy and dull, but then suddenly the '87 LeBaron happened, and put Chrysler back on the map in Europe, coupe and convertible. -

Personally I'm not moved by today's offerings of the automotive world, pre- 2000 one could see and say, this is an American/European/Japanese/Australian car, now one has to look at the nameplate. Truck wise, the once tough looking outdoor fun and work vehicles, turned into an fashion appliance with too much brightwork, bling bling show off vehicles...Tonka toys for "grownups" -

Luc Janssens replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
STOP IT Bill! No one, I mean no one, can share the same notion or have the same wacky idea that a '77 Olds Cutlass is a great looking car , but then again what was again, the best selling nameplate back in the day?? BTW for some reason that one and the '72 Buick Century are the only Colonnade style cars I truly like, the Pontiac versions for instance do absolutely nothing to me, and the Chevy Malibu only sparks some interest when it has ample open cargo space (Elky) From the Ford company I like the great "marquis" from their top of the line big cars, especially those with hidden headlamps, like the '76 Mercury Marquis brougham, '77 Ford LTD country squire Looking at the Chrysler corp, I'm voting for the '74 Dodge Monaco but also '76 Plymouth Fury and also an all new tool, for the Coronet from 71 on to 78 when they carried the Monaco nameplate, can't think of a car more widely used as a police vehicle as that one (except maybe the Ford Interceptor from the end of the 20th century) but then again it was probably the government way of keeping them afloat until Iaccoca took over... -

Maybe you can by combining Monogam's '87 Turbo T-Bird and one of the pre-facelift T-Bird Drag cars. Think that's what Art did, back in the day of AAM. -

Luc Janssens replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bill, the more you show this T-bird the more I want it. anyway do hope more big cars of the '70s get kitted, maybe they were unreliable and slow, but then....there's still such a thing called nostalgia, especially to us who were kids in the '70s, they were the cars we grew up with, no more no less......
