  1. New Revell Germany kits, got more expensive (by €5.00) in the past months and cost about the same as amt kits over here (€29.99 Revell - €33.00 Amt)
  2. They also released the '90s Ford F-150 club cab, but again these are versions for the European market, if a US distributor picks them up and sells them in the US, of course they're going to be pretty expensive, compared to Revell kits produced packaged in and coming directly from China. BTW this is nothing new, cuz remember when visiting my friends of VLS (later bought by Squadron) back in the early nillies, they too had re-boxed by Revell AG, Revell-Monogram kits on their shelves, and yes they were also expensive.... Still to early to know what's going to happen, and furthermore with recent trade wars between the US and the rest of the world, no one knows what's going to be the best way to get non US produced goods into the US in a economic way.....only the guys in wall street know and will play on that knowledge, to make lots of money, Joe Average world wide will pick up the tab.
  3. Revell Germany orders Revell-Monogram kits as bagged shots from China, which then get repackaged together with a euro instruction sheet and decals by Cartograph in a Revell Germany wrapper, in their production facility in Poland, to be sold in the European market place. If US distributors order these euro spec US kits, then of course they will be much more expensive then those produced and marketed by Revell-Monogram.
  4. Huh? Thought this was released last fall? ( the Spa Francorchamps version that is)
  5. I've read, that the recently released '70 is better in that area.
  6. It looks fantastic Bill!
  7. Why not drill the holes, put in aluminum tubing and fill with clear mixed with amber/red?
  8. Can you say...Sabotage!!!
  9. Thanks for the input guys, so for a Mack with dumper body, one can use the Amt "R" cabin with the Mpc "DM 600" chassis (don't like the offset cabin
  10. Guys, what's the difference between Mack's "R" vs "DM" designation? Thanks in advance for your input.
  11. Revell Germany can also sent bagged shots to and have them wrapped in the US...it happened before the implosion of Hobbico and can happen again...also Revell Germany nor the investment company had anything to do with the bankrupty of Hobbico..so why the bad blood?
  12. I can relate to that statement, but if one takes for instance the recent Revell '76 Gran' Torino S&H, a lot of siblings can be done, all of which use the same or simmilar chassis and drive-train....also on the 3D files one doesn't have to start from scratch but copy --> paste and adjusts...sure the tooling is still the most costly aspect of it all, but with clever tool design one can eliminate waste to a minimum.
  13. Did a a little back tracking, and you're right, hmm...two things could've happended - not enough coffee - too much coffee
  14. Indeed
  15. Steven, I'm glad we somewhat agree
  16. IMHO A lot will depend on the evolution on pricing of auto kits in the US, and the notion that a company like Round2 can undermine any effort of tooling up something new, just by re-releasing old wine in new bottles, undercutting any chance of turning a profit. A reason too, IMHO exclusive rights when having the license to tool up something are the way to go...but come at a added cost too, which brings us back to my first statement, a lot will depend on the evolution of pricing....
  17. Indeed they don't, so we just don't know, and that is the point I'm trying to make.
  18. No not realy, Lee is living in the past, he's "thinks" that if Japanese model companies today design kits of US vehicles, they will be motorised or disproportioned. A lot of asuming there....while in fact we don't know anything (except maybe guys like Jonathan Stevens
  19. You're already buying Chinese kits, since Revell, Moebius and Round2 have thier new kits designed and produced there, they only provide the Research and 3D files.
  20. There probably isn't any reason to do so, but it "looks like" the deck of cards is being shuffled. BTW Beemax a few years back did a Racing version of the Chevy Cruze, was that a US vehicle, or just a Daewoo with a Chevy badge?
  21. To my knowledge Trumpeter isn't a Japanese company, and yes....they did screw up....the reason why....maybe someday Don Banes, may tell what went wrong there...
  22. you're talking pre-90s Japanese kits of US subjects. In the past (two) decade(s) the market has changed from a toy to speciality hobby, consumers became very demanding, IMHO the car hobby is now where the military and plane model kits were in the '80-90s. When or if US companies cease to exist, others will take over, and probably pick subjects of US vehicles which can be sold globaly, where the domestic companies, only looked at North America. Again look at the military and plane modelers, yes the big companies are still there, but the driving force are the tiny or newer companies, who force the big and or old ones to up their game, the difference bestween enthusiast steered companies as oposed to big top heavy corporations. Also one has to realise that the US isn't the center of the world....
  23. No....not eager, but sometimes people think much is the same, in your case a complete new body tool would be neccesary, but if both model years would've been co-designed then the costs would've been less. But this kit is from before the Wally World retreat, when the money was still coming in by the truckloads....it's a whole new ball game now. Moebius has shown that planned multiple siblings from one basic tool are very much possible, and I'm sure made them a good profit.
  24. there's more to it, body wise...the trunklid is different too, and there's the matter of the rockerpanels. Interior, I'm pretty sure the upholstery differs too.....
