....yes, grab the new issue anyway,,,,but the easy way to solve your paint problem is no problem at all. zip down to your hobby shop, grab a can of Tamiya white primer,,,,or even their pink primer, lay a couple of light coats over your gray primer....and after 3-4 hours drying time, lay your orange over it. I use it all the time, and its a winner. covering the gray will only take a couple of light coats....just a thought.....the Ace....

MPC/Round 2 - Pony Express is back from the grave!
AC Norton replied to Faust's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
......I'll let everybody else buy up my share of these......I promise that I won't trample others down at the hobby shop or at kit shows to grab one....lol....the Ace..... -
outstanding idea, Dennis....those pipes look just as tough as nails. I happen to have those parts lying around, so using your info and pics here, that solves that dilemma. that primer 40 looks nails, by the way.....oh, and like all the things you share with us, thank you a bunch, as always......best, the Ace....

....I think you know that that was just a giggle because you contribute so much info to the forum in the way of pics, past and present tech info, and the lot. if I was being sarcastic or other, you'd know it.....relax and sand something out for us...lol...the Ace.....

.......that's very kind of you, Dennis, for sharing some great info and pics regarding this topic. I know my next 40 Ford coupe is a candidate for the 427 Ford from the 32 Vicky, but I have yet to figure out the best headers to use.....regardless, its shared info like this that makes this the hobby we all enjoy so much.....best,,,,the Ace....

Snake, I barely know how to type on this thing, so anything like mentioned is challenging for me, I am not computer savvy at all. keep posting all the info you come up with, wish I was as busy at the bench all the time as you seem to be.....best,,,the ACE...

.......Snake doesn't have time for that.....he is too busy cutting, hacking, modeling, and sharing his world renown plastic fantastic knowledge with the rest of us...lol...lol.............the Ace......

you know, with all the possible combo swapping that can be done here, my next 40 coupe will have the 427 Vicky motor slid in there, for sure. thanks for the reminder on all that. with sooooo many kits and info, they kind of get lost in the shuffle.....lol......the Ace..

........I assure you its just re boxed Lindberg.......making that tooling pay off again and again,,,,,,the Ace...

.......you know, it really is, Colby. I can tell you from using some of the small sponsor decals on my build, they are great quality decals too. as good or better than most aftermarket ones. all round its a nice issue compared to many prior issues for the tires, decals, and perfect chrome alone.............the Ace....

well, if your stock is that rich on 40s,,,,,one built soon is mandated, I would say. no matter your choice of rod, drag car, custom, you name it....I am certain you will enjoy the build. looking back I truly encountered no real problems or hang ups, that I can recall. a month should allow plenty of time to come up with a great result, regardless of your build preference...please post the car for all to enjoy upon your completion.....the Ace... -

....thanks, Alan, for your comments. I guess its just one of those 50 plus year old kits that stands the test of time a bit better than some. its basic, simple to build, yet it yields a pleasing result with a bit of effort. mind you, this newest issue has perfect chrome, the nice tires and slicks RC2 offers, and a great decal sheet. the nailhead is a terrific feature here too, because even though its early 60s speed equipment is dated, with a minimum of effort the engine setup can look great by merely ignition wires installed and some overall detailing with paints. I had never built a 40 Ford at all in my 48 years of kit building, but I'm glad I did, and even grabbed a couple of more of this issue for future builds.....best, the Ace.... -
.....if you go to our drag cars forum, type in,,,, that dang Trouble Maker......you can view the exact issue from 2014 you want to build, and post my photos here if you can.....I am not very computer savvy, and don't know how to do it.....I don't have a camera presently either, but this may help you, as mine is basically box built with the exception of a few decals...hope this can help,,,,best...the Ace...

......glad you like your kit...I like mine as well. loaded with neat stuff.....I think the blower/Weber setup will make it onto my 36 Ford with its Pontiac engine gasser option.....but, OOOPS...lets stick to the Gran Prix in this Gran Prix forum, because like you said, Scott, back to the GP,,,, its annoying when every discussion it seems spins into everything else in the world, and it gets old real quick. if I want world news, i'll watch CNN....best,,,the Ace...

How long do ya'll take
AC Norton replied to Chris Evans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
....funny you ask that.....at one time I built drag cars at a fairly quick pace, that is to say,,,,each project taking between 3-6 weeks of working on the car very constantly. that was in the 80s up to around the early 2000-2002 era. had a lot of cars at that time,,,however in getting back into the hobby just 3 years ago, I find projects take me a long time, yet really should not. cars that could be built to a very nice quality and one was proud of in probably 3 or 4 weeks seem now to linger into 4, 5, 6 months or more. the drive to crank 'em out just isn't there like before. maybe its age, don't really know. I have nothing but time, and built a lot more when my life was a whole lot busier and more rounded than it is these days.....was going to glue a couple of parts together just now, but NNNAAAA..........i'll just have some more coffee and buy more kits tonite.....lol...........the Ace...... -
....saw this car run at Dragway Park, Cayuga, Ontario in if memory serves, 1972 at a Pro Stock special event.....it broke 2 passes out of 2....a very beautiful, exciting pro car at the time,,,but not a competitive car compared to most others........the Ace....
