Lancia Stratos (rebound build)
Belugawrx replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Very nicely done Pierre, as others have said the decals over the louvers look great! -
Just finished this one, 1998 Mclaren MP4/13. I liked the presentation car livery and it's not often you get to build an orange car..and I really didn't want the head ache of the actual livery... David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen drove this to much success in 1998 winning the constructor's title for McLaren for the first time in 7 years. Here they are with the presentation car So anyways on to the build Paint is Craftsmart from Micheals custom mixed, thinned and airbrushed..clear coat is airbrushed Pledge (Future) 3 coats. The "carbon fibre is just gloss black with a dusting of gold sprayed very lightly into the spray booth not at the part...lol Mostly out of box except for a few extra wires and an additional rear wing element. Fun build, no headaches. Thanks for checking it out...Cheers

Finally got Jimmy's pickem up truck done...after 2 failed paint jobs and robbing 3 kits of their chrome bits... I was in such a rush to complete it, I didn't really get any good close ups of it ,...anyway, here ya go This is the real truck with Jaguar frost blue paint Paint is Craftsmart from Micheal's thinned and shot through airbrush, and 3 coats of Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel clear. The front spears on the hood are thin strips of evergreen BMF'd Thanks Jason (68shortfleet) for the '41 dash ..and Duane Garner for the banjo steering wheel π

My buddy's '41 Ford pickup
Belugawrx replied to Belugawrx's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks 3rd times the charm they say, I tried the JAG paint ...too hot..stripped everything with Dot 3 and started over.. couldn't decide on the proper colour, so ...White Duplicolor primer to start, then after searching Crappy Tire for about 6 Months.. Hyundai frost blue is not available.. I looked in my Craft Smart stash and lo and behold.... Frost blue craftsmart #514144.. Thinned it 1 part paint , 5 parts tap water, 1/8th part Liquitex flow aid and shot it with 18 psi .5 needle ..4 light coats. when it dried it felt like 1000g sandpaper... so I deliberated on Future, or Alclad Aqua gloss clear or just hit it with Duplicolor acrylic enamel or acrylic lacquer.. I think its much closer to Jimmy's truck colour -

Lacquer thinner for airbrushing enamels?

Test it on something you don't care about first -
I purchased some Duplicolor Chrome spray for the first time yesterday, and tried it out... not bad π I sprayed Duplicolor gloss black first, then 2 coats of Chrome... (and apparently I didn't sand the surface first ..) Doh!! It seams very durable, after rubbing it with my thumb. You are right though, more of a high polish aluminium. WARNING...ALOT of material comes out of that nozzle, may think about decanting...

Cant wait to see how you make out Mike.. I started the 1:20 Fujimi 126 C2 awhile ago, with ALL the p/e and after market parts I could find ... WhooEee there goes the budget ...and I got the engine done and now it sits.... Moving to the Tamiya 1:12 312T for a break... Looking forward to your next update! Cheers
