Cool, thanks, I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the same issue... -
Detailing over a clear coat body shell
Funkychiken replied to Funkychiken's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hi guys, thanks for taking the time, a few answers to your questions: The body has been primed with zero grey, then a few coats of Tamiya aerosol silver, then bmw touch up paint applied by airbrush. Then several coats of 1k clear, not polished. Now I want to add black plastic trim details, and always struggle with adhesion of the Tamiya acrylic over a glossy finish. I cannot get testors acrylic here in the UK, but I may try the Tamiya spray option. I know that one can decent, I've never tried it myself... Thanks for the help! -
Cool, great finish with the polish and lapping.

Perfect start, great build!

Lol, it's a great post, and I like your car!

That food is great, we'll done, I guess you like American classics...

Great finish on this one! Did you have to use a multilayer polish kit for the clear coat?

Top painting skills there!

Absolutely sublime! Love the subject, and your build is spot on...

Not much progress, and not doing so well with the flocking either. I'm using Hiroboy beige & a generic PVA / White glue from HobbyCraft, watered down about 40% water, and it still ends up patchy. And me being an idiot I tried to glue the PE net to the bulk head with CA, which just stained the flocking.... As a test (after research) I am going to try some Enamel gloss paint - see if that is better than PVA... If not, I'll change my brand of PVA glue and see how it goes. but on the plus side, I added the PE discs to the brakes, they are brass, so were primed with Tamiya X11, they look much better than my feeble attempt to add a dark wash to the indents moulded into the plastic. The Main bit left now is the body shell. I've wanted to finish the BMW M5 first before I move onto it. It's getting a bit cold for spraying too...

And the final clear coat is down. 1 light coat and two heavy ones. Looks like it will need a polish, I don't think I'll be trying to sand it out. Would be good to finish one this year...

Finally I meet someone with the same painting skills as me. I'm a much better paint stripper than I am a body air brush painter. I've certainly had all the issues you are having! Good luck with the build... I like the subject & it's coming along nicely
