Round sanding sticks
ChrisBcritter replied to hedotwo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've seen plastic sanding sticks that have small peel-and-stick bits of sandpaper that roll onto the tip in a cone shape - probably at Hobby Lobby or Hobby Town USA. -
I'd like some help finding an older post

I searched my posts under keywords Tempest, Bondic, and hood. -
Henry Limpet, manager.

One of these days I'll bite the bullet and get the custom parts from a '64 - I'd like to use half of that rear roll pan turned vertical with one of those delicate grilles as a custom front end on a '40 Ford.

You got it: (No adverse effects from the Bondic, btw.) -

I believe somebody makes resin copies of the more accurate Revell '62-'63 wheelcovers; if you can't find 'em I'll start work on casting 'em. Got a full NOS set that need to be stripped of chrome and sprue nicks fixed.

Well, you can use them to become an expert at filling pinholes. That Mk IV is real nice. Looking forward to seeing your hot rod Lincoln!

Some fun eBay weirdness...
ChrisBcritter replied to Mike999's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A couple weeks ago, seller vintagemodelcarparts put up the parts of a '66 Skylark; one guy Buy-It-Nowed pretty much everything but the bumpers and ended up spending around $250.00. -
The '62 Newport convertible landed today; hood's glued on but at least two of the wheelcovers should produce good molds. Also got a complete NOS engine for the '63 Riviera; still need the better '60 valve covers for it:

Nice work! I'm still on the low side of the learning curve with two-part molds, but I'm getting there. Gotta start making knockoffs for all those wire wheels! Just popped the goodies out of the pot - all came out perfect (whew) including another set of Car Craft Dream Rod wire wheels I forgot to mention.

1964 Pontiac Auto Transmission
ChrisBcritter replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think I have a solution: All AMT '61 through '64 Bonneville and '64 Grand Prix coaster promos have this transmission molded into the engine insert; it's a Roto Hydramatic for sure: I think one of these cut up (or molded/cast), combined with the '64 Caddy trans and the Revell parts pack bellhousing, would yield a reasonably accurate Slim Jim. Now to find a junker non-friction promo... -
OK, thanks. By the way, just found another Chevelle body for you - email sent.

What’s your most and least favourite task?
ChrisBcritter replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I greatly enjoy carving, trimming, whittling and fitting; love researching, don't care for wiring engines but I'm getting better at it, and really don't care for doing paint jobs.
