  1. The molds are probably long gone, but the Aurora Mod Squad '50 Mercury wagon had figures of Pete, Linc and Julie. I still have the Julie. Here she is in 1/25 scale: And here she is as the 50-foot Woman:
  2. I've had a few Mini-Lindys over the years; just have three now - an unbuilt fire truck, an AMC Gremlin, and a school bus that I kitbashed into a 1936 Ford Army bus using parts from a 1/72 scale Japanese WWII fuel truck.
  3. More stuff to pack up??? Congrats, Steve - couldn't happen to a nicer guy!
  4. At the model club meet last night, I picked up a set of chrome reverses with Baby Moons for the '65 Econoline movie truck project, and a sharp set of Appliance wire mags that should look good on my '69 LTD when I get around to it. Thanks to Steve G. for bringing that huge bin of tires and letting us root through it!
  5. Good score! Fiddly kit to build (and the rubber tires split after I built it) but one of my favorite old planes. If I got another, I'd like to build it as one of the target tugs based at Las Vegas during WWII; their last hurrah before the smelter:
  6. Do any of the Ollie's have the Lindberg Coronado boat kit yet?
  7. Sold for $1358! i***r came in with ten seconds to go, holding off previous winner y***a and c***n's final bids in the last four and five seconds. What a race!
  8. Wonderful display! What did you use for the plank flooring? And are you going to try a resin '48 Tudor Sedan next?
  9. Probably because it was an effective way to get a tuck-and-roll look; I imagine it showed up in a model car magazine and everybody tried it (including me). IIRC, Hank Borger did a mild custom '49 Merc in Car Model using corduroy in the early '70s and it was an old technique then.
  10. Bravo for seeing this one through to the end - it was well worth the effort. And you'll certainly never see another like it; after reading through the build thread, nobody else is going to want to try that!
  11. Got a set of NOS '62 Pontiac Grand Prix grilles for my AMT '62 Catalina - thanks so much to Steven for taking time out from his moving preparations to send 'em! Too bad AMT never did a Grand Prix version of the Catalina kit; the grilles were a custom part in the long-gone original '62 Bonneville hardtop.
  12. The Deerfield, IL store has all three sizes; the 4mm was $11.99 ($7.19 + tax with the coupon).
  13. Cool! Does the '57 Ford have the Styline front and rear ends?
  14. Not a big deal from my experience with X-El reissues; they're actually softer plastic, tapered and ridged for a jam fit - I got 'em out with my fingernails. The interior/glass is probably heat-swaged in like the original promos.
  15. "At the eBay Races with your hosts Ted and Fred" ...And they're off and running! Ted, g***m has taken over the lead with a double bid at $390; a***i, o***e and r***r are in the middle of the pack holding at the low-$200 level while newcomer 4***7 is breathing down g***m's neck at $385! What a race! Yes, Fred, g***m is on the comeback trail after that heartbreaking $10.00 outbid loss to y***a on the '70 Coronet last week! Let's see if he can hold on to that lead among these worthy adversaries! (Seriously, Paul, sweet build! Hope I can do one soon!)
  16. Fixed - and Kinja's working again too; Firefox did an update last night. What a relief!
  17. Great! Glad I could help.
  18. Wish they'd take a whack at this area - got just the location, too. The huge Savers Thrift Store on Milwaukee Ave. in Glenview closed a week or two ago; great spot for an Ollie's...
  19. Or cast it in resin and start selling a few... I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.
  20. Don't forget this handy tool: I have gotten a ton of use out of mine for fine work; you can replace one battery with a metal spacer to slow it down if needed. $14.99 minus whatever coupon you have.
  21. They sure will, at least with AMT - I have a few models like a '62 Continental and a '64 Grand Prix that I built from NOS kits in '81, and the wheels have been affected by the tires.
  22. And the hearse/ambulance is a '62 Oldsmobile, looks like a Cotner-Bevington "Cotington Landau" conversion (note the taillight turned 90 degrees to fit) - that's got to be a rare one! http://www.oldcarbrochures.org/index.php/NA/Oldsmobile/1962-Oldsmobile/1962-Oldsmobile-Cotner-Bevington
  23. The Lindberg '53 Ford has this issue, at least with the styrene whitewall inserts. Yet I have Monogram (Cord, Duesenberg) and Lindberg (Mercedes SSK) kits my dad built in the mid-1960s that have no tire melt on the plastic whitewalls at all. If they had the right formula for the vinyl back then, why didn't they stay with it?
