  1. Sold listings for the '30 on eBay are running from $41.00 to $84.13. They're mostly in the $50-$60 range.
  2. This is one of my favorites - and why I needed the '64 Cadillac bench seat, and still need the '65 Belvedere four-door conversion. Already have the '61 Olds at the end (although the one in the movie is a 98, I'll at least paint it the same color): If it doesn't start at the scene, FF to 38:50. Already have the license plates:
  3. They look the same. Oddly, the centers with their 12 holes are a near perfect match for 1957-66 Imperial wheels.
  4. I'm doing something similar: Cut between the doors and back along the rocker panels (the PO cut off the tops of the quarters and removed the Continental emblems), replacing the back half with one off an incomplete/damaged '62.
  5. Are there any other Corvair-powered kits, like dune buggies or customs, that would have the early rear suspension setup? I seem to recall one Ross or Barris kit that does. I have a '64 Craftsman that might tempt me to needlessly complicate things...
  6. Finally got me a '64 Cadillac bench seat - the hard way: Clean '63 built kit and decent '64 promo, cheap. I'll dismantle the '64, make a mold of the bench and cast it for my Coupe deVille, then do the needed repairs. I have a trade in mind for the '63 when I go to the next LMMCC meeting.
  7. I usually pick the old and rare stuff and see what I can do with it that's different. About the only kits I'm building stock are my Continentals - but the rest will have some large or small mods to set them apart from the usual.
  8. Ron, have you test fitted that front bumper/grille yet? I'm putting a '64 together from a couple parts cars, and ended up having to cement a curved brace under the header panel to pull the outer edges down into alignment with the top of the grille (plus some trimming on the back of the grille itself).
  9. SO cool to see someone else take on this kit! (I don't suppose you have a leftover rear bumper?) The body has a ton of little issues - especially with alignment of fenders and doors - and you've done a great job fixing them. Don't blame you for replacing the chassis, either - it needs a lot of work just to get it to a decent curbside/promo standard. Did you find this kit in Germany or somewhere else?
  10. And then there's mine. And in lieu of the build thread I should be doing, here's the current status of my '58 Ford, now with a raised stance, straight axle and a SOHC in the jaw: And yes, that's a separate '60 Falcon grille and front bumper on the lower right - hopefully Mr. Obsessive will like that!
  11. I see he has some '60 Fords - hope I can get just the windshield.
  12. OK, now that the hard work is done and they have the files, couldn't that '59 (not '57 as they said) be 3D printed in 1/25 scale? They'd probably sell quite a few... just needs some minor corrections (top of the windshield is too flat).
  13. ^^^ Was just about to ask the same thing. On one of the ICM photos I spy a newer, round-fendered Model T in olive drab - maybe a WWI ambulance similar to this one? No 1/24 Packard limo yet?
  14. Which one is the four-speed? (photo or part #s?)
  15. Saw some newly-discounted kits today at the Deerfield IL store and scribbled some notes: MPC Jawbreaker $17.99 AMT 1/32 Ranchero $9.59 AMT '41 Plymouth $14.99 Revell '13 Camaro $16.79 Revell '14 Mustang $16.19 MPC Cosmic Charger $17.99 AMT Orig. Art '70 Impala Heavy Chevy $19.19 I also made the note "Revell SPWG $14.59" but now I don't remember what a spwg is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  16. Got some more Evergreen plastic (square and H-beam), a couple bottles of Tamiya acrylic to replace some dismal Testors junk, and a discounted Scale Stars Ranchero.
  17. Oh boy. There were many, but among them... 67 Mustang convertible - restoration completed except paint, new top, $1500 in 1981. Reason I didn't buy? It was November and I didn't want to drive a primered car through the IL winter. Bought a '74 Coupe deVille instead. '57 Rambler Rebel - at the L.A. County estate auction about 15 years ago. Solid original running car with no rust and good paint; rare as hens' teeth and one of the hottest-performing cars that year; sold for five hundred freaking dollars . Reason I didn't bid? There was a ratty '59 Silver Hawk in the warehouse awaiting probate; blinded by Stude-lust I decided to wait for it. Result? Some family member came along and took it back so I got neither one. Ones I had, briefly, but let go: '88 Starion. 44k miles, excellent shape. Bought it at the estate auction to flip it; paid $2400 and sold it for $3100 - but I fell in love with the way it drove (turbo!!!) and I would have kept it if I hadn't been upside down in payments on my '90 Trofeo. But the one I miss the most (only photo I have): '64 Catalina 2+2 convertible - one owner 105k-mile original car. Again, the L.A. estate auction; I bid it up to $3200 and literally jumped for joy when the auctioneer said "SOLD!". Put the top down and drove it home feeling like the luckiest guy in the world. Reason it got away? 6 months later, my roommates couldn't come up with their $1000 for the rent and it was either sell it or live in it. Got $3600 from the guy I'd been buying parts from (it looked decent but did need a lot of work), who flipped it for five grand to some local Japanese guy who was ready to do a five-figure resto job. So if you see a white 2+2 vert with CA black plates QKP 818 cruising around SoCal, tip your hat to it...
  18. Got the remains of a couple sheets somewhere; one was cut a little wrong so some had to be stitched together. Don't know about the rest, but the Illinois plate is the wrong color/style for 1961 - they used a '60 plate and changed the year. "Land of Lincoln" should be on the bottom (as it was an odd-numbered year) and the plate should be red with white characters.
  19. Once again, I'll recommend licenseplates.tv - you have to do a screenshot to get the image but the images are sharp enough to reduce to 1/25. Most importantly, the fonts are the most accurate you'll find. One problem: they dropped the CA, FL and TX plates; if you go to archive.org and pull up an older version of the site you may be able to get the blank templates. I saved the complete alphabet for the CA black plates, so if anyone wants a particular number, post a request and I'll post a set. Example - Here's the Stone, Woods, Cook Willys: Save, shrink, print!
  20. Unfortunately, there are are quite a few vintage cars getting destroyed even today. (And where the he are they finding Imperials?)
  21. That roof looks familiar - is it from a Palmer kit?
  22. Hate to tell you, but that chassis has '58 Lincoln wheels, not Buick. On the '60 wheelcovers: Another use for them is to paint the inner center black and add the four-bar spinners Jo-Han put in lots of their early '60s kits. Makes really good Royal Lancers.
  23. No, you made an excellent deal. There are two on eBay now in worse shape and they're both higher priced. Decent builtups are in the $70.00 range now.
