  1. I have a '59/'60 chrome tree I bought to get the detail bits for my '59 Bonneville - you can have the vent if you need it. -CB
  2. Mine is molded in solid red but there's one on eBay now that was molded in metallic red. Also the drag version's spoked mags were changed at some point to slotted or Halibrand mags. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960S-IMC-VOLKSWAGEN-VW-GASSER-2-IN-1-MODEL-KIT-WITH-BOX-/131760060467?hash=item1ead82f833:g:aukAAOSwvFZW8VKl
  3. Went to my LHS and picked up some Tamiya Aluminum acrylic, thanks to the little discussion on the silver paint thread, plus Ford Blue acrylic for the SOHC engine I got last week for the '58 Fairlane. (That engine turned out to be a mess when it arrived - it was glued to the '68 Cobra chassis using two other cylinder heads as engine mounts - but I got it dismantled, repaired it, and found a low-rise dual quad manifold in my stash of incomplete SOHC engines.)
  4. Looks nice for a quick 'n' easy! Is this the new reissue, and if so, could you post a photo or two of the straight axle setup?
  5. There's also the old trick of removing every other horizontal bar for an eggcrate look.
  6. Was that released before the AMT '49 Ford promos?
  7. AMT also made a four-door '60 Falcon promo in RHD for the Australian market; unfortunately they were also acetate and would warp/shrink just as bad as their American counterpart.
  8. Take a look at this and see what you think: (I shot this while the TV movie Roadracers was being filmed down the street from me back in 1994.)
  9. eBay to the rescue, just in case: http://www.ebay.com/itm/JO-HAN-1966-CHRYSLER-300-ORIGINAL-GLASS-KIT-C-1566-CCIRCA-1966-/231885813292?hash=item35fd78b62c:g:J8YAAOSw2ENW8JLH
  10. That was an oddball; body sides and door lines were Bel Air but the trunk and taillight coves were Impala-shaped.
  11. PMC 1959 Ford Country Sedan wagon. Promo has interior and glass, plus "FordAire" emblem on tailgate. They're all warped/shrunk. The toy version is styrene and doesn't warp; no interior/glass/FordAire emblem and one-piece black wheels with hot-stamped whitewalls. Usually molded in red with silver plastic bumpers, although some have chrome bumpers and are molded in coral. Basis for the Jimmy Flintstone resin kit. PMC '60 Impala four-door post sedan. Probably cribbed from the AMT version judging by the grille; the roof is way too flat and looks chopped. Usually sold as a fire chief or police car; toy with no glass/interior.
  12. In some applications I'll use just enough tube cement to hold two parts together, then hit the seam with the liquid to fuse it (currently using Tamiya thin stuff).
  13. "Although it's been said many times, many ways..."
  14. Shoot, I just want some of those display cases!
  15. If the court pleases, Your Honor, I'd like to withdraw the question.
  16. Geez, the non-paying bidder issue. I run across this constantly on 1/1 cars on eBay; when my friend is looking a car for sale/auction I go through the old listings for comparison prices. It's not unusual for "sold" cars to be relisted two or three times. I think I've gotten a "second chance" notice on a model only once due to a non-paying top bidder.
  17. Found this listing: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-1960-century-coronado-boat-412722785 Holy crapoli, look at that thing! Gotta have something flashy to tow it - my '59 Imperial may be getting a trailer hitch... ETA: Just found this listing for a real one with some engine photos; says it's a Gray Marine 327 - must be a modified early AMC V-8. Looks like I'll need to part out some poor Jo-Han kit for that, unless the one in the kit is really good. http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1959/Century-Coronado-2645784/Unknown/PA/United-States#.Vu0vq0CTXkc
  18. The AMT '33 and '41 Willys kits too (unless they're hiding up there behind a cat), plus various Revell drag kits (Anglia/Austin/Henry J).
  19. Its greatest achievement is that it makes the Amphicar look stylish by comparison.
  20. Hmmm. Steve, how wide is the stock grille? It's giving me ideas.
  21. Congrats, Tommy - and you could use that roof/glass on a current '61-'62 Chevy or Pontiac kit to build a 4-door hardtop conversion.
  22. Maybe a '42 4-door sedan that can be built as a police, fire chief, or wartime Army/Navy staff car?
  23. Got this yesterday: Original '58 Edsel rear bumper. I'm building the newer AMT '58 but I'm using the old bumpers because (a) they're more correctly shaped, and (b) they're molded thick enough that I can remove the guards without leaving gaps in the bumper (I'm building it as my old Ranger sedan that didn't have them). Odd thing was this came from a seller who usually has opening bids of about $15 for all his bumpers/grilles; this was listed for $3.99.
  24. Did you get the original '62-issue interior or the USA Oldies ('64 Dodge promo) one?
  25. I've been messing with trim ideas too for my '56: Last one's like '57 Chevy 150 trim swapped side-for-side.
