  1. Nice-looking wire wheels (even if not appropriate for a GTO). What kit are they from?
  2. Check your local store - the Michael's in Glenview near me accepts Hobby Lobby 40% off coupons.
  3. I've read that the last time the remains were seen by a wreck diver on the Andrea Doria, there was little left recognizable but four whitewall tires. Replica builder Marty Martino had started building a recreation of the car, but Eshaver (who knows him) mentioned here recently that the project has been stalled for a few years now.
  4. Mercedes 280SE 4.5 or 6.3 Mercedes 190SL (with Rosemarie Nitribitt's license plate H70-6425 on the decal sheet ) Rolls-Royce Corniche Ford Consul Capri '58 Vauxhall Victor estate '57-'60 Opel Rekord (really want to build a gasser out of this!)
  5. Top of the list: 1959 DeSoto Fireflite. Close second: '57 Buick Century. Then the rest: '62, '64 and '65 Imperials '58 Edsel junior series (Pacer/Ranger) '57 Ford Fairlane Willys Aero '55-'57 Nomads (the only Tri-Fives I really care for) '63 Ford Galaxie '39 Ford/'40 Mercury convertible sedans '51 Frazer '58 Plymouth Studebaker and Packard fintail Hawks '56 Packard 400 '57 Cadillac '67 Eldorado Chrysler Norseman
  6. I also remember seeing smaller Oldsmobile toys around that time; the one I recall in particular was red plastic, about 1/32 or a bit smaller, and had a friction motor and chrome plastic wheels with rubber tires. This one was a '64, however. I have a hunch yours might have been a knockoff of the Corgi '61 Olds, which was a miniature knockoff of the Jo-Han '61 Super 88.
  7. Welcome buddy! Glad you joined up, Tom - wait 'til everyone sees more of your builds! The '58 Ford four-door hardtop especially will make some jaws drop around here.
  8. Going by the chrome rings in the taillight lenses, it's a '64 - the '63 had a chrome blade with a bullet like the full-size cars did.
  9. The photo of all the Deloreans reminds me of the "Back to the Pilot" episode of Family Guy: "Stop! We're from the future!" "Stop! We're from the further future!" "Stop! We're from the further, further future!"
  10. Would it be a good idea to cut patch panels from the kit glass to fit into those big openings? Might be less trouble than scratchbuilding them, plus the compound curves would match.
  11. Really love the styling on this one, Art - looks very close to this Willoughby sedan: Just square the corners of the windows a bit and make a more vertical windshield header, and there you are.
  12. They've let bits of info out in the past on their site's "What's a hanger shot?" message thread: http://www.collectormodel.com/round2-models/2224-whats-a-hanger-shot/#comment-13806 The '64 F-85 Cutlass only exists as a convertible funny car body-wise but much of the original kit also survives. The molds, however, were tagged as rusted. Early '60s Ford pickups - gone.'62 Galaxie - gone.'59 Buick - gone.'61 Galaxie convertible - gone.'60 T-bird - gone.'68 Impala - gone.'63 Nova wagon - body/glass/grille/bumpers/taillights/stock wheelcover (one!) exist in the Boss Nova, with modifications; but unlike the Cutlass, the inserts for the chassis/interior/stock engine are gone.'71-'75 Impalas - inserts are gone.
  13. Correct! She might have made it as a teacher, if it wasn't for that darn nickname...
  14. So here's a toughie. She's still around as of this moment, still working recently and has somehow missed being on this thread:
  15. Made it through 36 out of 37 pages and... rats. Well, I'll post 'em anyway. Local girl (New Trier class of '59). Second cheerleader from the left: Performed "Heat Wave" in the variety show: And let's face it: the senior photo gives it away, since she was in her first movie only two years later. At least I hope you liked the photos.
  16. And when she found out you did it... to quote Mark Twain: "Let us close the curtain of charity on the rest of the scene."
  17. When I'm at the library I'm usually working my way through Mark Twain's short story collection; somebody took it out so I'm now working my way through Ian Fleming's James Bond novels. And as I mentioned on the other book thread, I've read all of James Ellroy's books and now I'm waiting for the sequel to Perfidia.
  18. A couple shots from my 4th birthday. The Eldon pickup is long gone, but I still have the Matchbox car carrier (and the two Danish Modern chairs). Perfect image of suburban 1964; freshly-permed mothers with cigarettes, bi-level carpeting, and a big picture window with somebody's '60 Olds wagon out front.
  19. Your mother must have been so proud. (And why didn't I think of that?) Re the candy cigarettes: Nobody's mentioned that if you blew them like a whistle, they'd expel a little puff of powdered sugar that looked like smoke.
  20. Very nice job, Tulio - best part is those resin tires will never melt your wheels.
  21. You've got a good start there. Looks like you'll need to shorten it through the front doors about 1/4"-5/16"? And look for a set of '66-'67 wheelcovers.
  22. Wonder how long it will be before we see the first video of someone with deep pockets and the driving skills of a three-year-old piling one up?
  23. Checked the Glenview, IL Michael's this evening - the $14.99 car kits were the Petty Dart, Dart Sport, '69 Chevelle convertible, Little Red Wagon, '60 Ranchero, and the Malco Gasser Mustang.
  24. I see what AMT did for the test wheel - they used the master for the outer wheel halves from the '27 T touring (though the spokes are flat on the outside for some reason) so they could use a tire they had available.
