Now those are some great decals! The 1/1 was a looker, too. Tommy, in which class did you drive your '55? I've got a long-stalled 1970s dirt tracker '64 Fairlane project on which I'm using the same kind of deep steelies with a set of those big American Satco street tires. It basically will look like your '55; stock body and chassis with a small-block Ford.

Got a '56 Ford rear end yesterday from gardnerpag44 - I'm using its nicely arched rear springs (with shock mounts!) to help jack up the 9-inch and get the '58 Fairlane riding high.

That truck is in amazing condition after 18 years - do you keep it in a vault? Looks like only 12000-something kilometers on it when I enlarged the interior photo. -
Awww C'mon!! Really??

If an older person time-traveled from 1968 to today and saw these, he'd say "Thank God kids are back to normal like when I was their age!" -

Some box art - just for fun and memories!
ChrisBcritter replied to Faust's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Good stuff! Funny thing is the Vette Van box art looks a lot like some of the Monogram art from that period: built kit on a stark white background. -

Looks real good in the photos! I would have liked a separate tailgate and clear red taillight lenses, but other than that, I'm very happy with the kit. It'll be very interesting to see all the building variations you all will come up with. -

Looking forward to seeing more of this one, Bill! That's some thick plastic you'll be cutting through. Maybe you could save some trouble by taking a '62 300 and cutting the front clip off at the door jambs, then cutting the '61 clip off 1/8" ahead of the door jambs, and combining the two? That way you get the correct length, the correct grille, plus the opening hood. (I solved the wheelbase problem on my '60 the easy way by downgrading it to a Windsor.) -
Forgot a couple from my past - I have family down in Paducah, KY and my favorite food there (besides Grandma's chicken gumbo) is Starnes' Barbecue - pulled-pork heaven; we always put some in a cooler to bring home. Back in SoCal I loved Fuddruckers too; the one at the east end of Pasadena had a great cruise night on Saturdays; I even met Paul LeMat there once and got a poster autographed - nice guy. Too bad they closed. Over here, El Famous Burrito in Wheeling is my brothers and my go-to place for Mexican food; however I spotted a genuine vintage drive-in that had gyros over by Wheeling High School - looks like a time capsule; anyone been there?

Cyclones as well. Buick had it in '73, referring to it as "Manchester Cloth" - my ex-boss has a '73 Estate Wagon with that treatment. -
Very attractive build! Will you be using those cone-shaped wheelcovers when you build the custom one? Always liked their look.

Went down to Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling to see this: ...then turned around and spotted this Mercedes. (Note my Buick photobombing in the background.) -

How about a class for: '58 Fairlane 500, full interior with roll bar, straight axle, a bit raised but level stance, dual quad SOHC with little or no setback, circa '69-'72 or so? Maybe with the old Jo-Han cheater slicks so it would do street and strip? ETA: Just to stay OT, more zoomies (again from R&C, 12-68): -

Or how about: you're just minding your own business when one of the Gargantuas walks through traffic ? -
Hopefully some resin kaster kan kome up with the other komponents! OK, enough. At least now some gluebombs can be rescued, or donate the few missing bits.

Must have been '68 rather than '68. I don't have a complete set; just found and scanned these from June and December of that year, but I don't know who won: That two-door must have been a real squirrel; good thing it was only running a stock 283! -
That one's a Sport Fury. Odd thing with the Jo-Han reissue '62 Plymouths: Some have not-quite-accurate Sport Fury wheelcovers and some have standard Fury/Belvedere wheelcovers; don't know when that was changed but the body has the regular Fury trim and two tail/backup lights per side (Sport Fury had three per side).

Looking forward to the reviews on the Pacer wagon; might just grab that one. Re the Stooges '55 truck: Shouldn't it have Shemp instead of Curly?
