I wasted no time grabbing one of the Satco promos when they became available (from a Wheat's ad in SAE I think) and wish I'd bought a few more. The glass is vacuformed and includes side windows, which I don't think the original did? I notice there's an irregular ridge across the top of the front bumper; crack in the mold maybe? When I got it I corrected AMT's mistake and countersunk the taillights into the fenders, so there goes the collector value : I marked this shot up for someone who wanted to build a longbed from the Revell or AMT kit: Anyone else here have one?

What did you see on the road today?

Fourth time was the charm! Stumbled on it the other day and spoke to the owner - it was shortened through the rear doors, it has a full frame with four-link suspension, and a small-block Ford under its little hood: -
Sorry to hear about the job - at least you had a nice vacation. Visiting Pearl Harbor and the other military bases there has always been on my bucket list - but as the old song goes, "My bucket's got a hole in it..."

Yes, I love a certain singer, but as far as feeling guilty: Regarding German schlagers, there's the 1968 East German teen comedy musical Hot Summer - fondly referred to over there now as the DDR's version of Grease, but it's really more like Beach Party. Lots of relentlessly catchy songs, including the opening number: Lead actress Chris Doerk reminds me a bit of Gidget-era Sally Field.

Back on topic. Checked both local Hobbit Lobbits (Beaumont and Rancho Mirage) and neither had the '64 442, so finally got one from eBay.

He's still around? Good; nice guy. Got some great projects from him at the Pomona Swap Meet long ago, including a real clean '61 Olds 88 and '61 Fleetwood.

What car is this?
ChrisBcritter replied to peteski's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As far as engine swaps go, a Chevy small block was doable - as proved in this article in Car Speed and Style from February 1958: "His horn went Beep...Beep...Beep!" -

Northbrook, IL in 1972: My mom suggested we get in for a photo; my apologies to the owner (anyone around Chicago ever see this one?). -

Oh no! Sorry you had to learn the hard way, James, but ELO makes plastic brittle if you leave it on too long - I always use it applied with a brush or a rag and wipe off the paint, then rinse it off right away. Usually I only use it to get stubborn paint off (especially black and red) after soaking in Super Clean. Hope you can find another body.

My only '70s sort-of-muscle car was this '72 Chevelle SS - the base model with 350 4-barrel, owned it from '85-'87: -

Rough remains of a '72 street machine Firebird, last tagged in '84: Same car on prom night with its original owner, pre-mags and spoiler: My boss dragged it home from a Pasadena estate sale as a project for his then-boyfriend; both the BF and the Firebird turned out to need way too much work to keep... 1960 Rambler American Deluxe (base model - rubber trim around windshield). The "American" script at the front of the fender IDs it as a '60; '58-'59 had it on the rear of the fender near the door. -
