  1. I'm in the middle of moving back to California now - ended up using various methods to pack 100-150 builtups, promos, and Franklin/Danbury cars. Many went into 1-gallon freezer bags, then into cartons with corrugated cardboard glass dividers. The more delicate/unfinished ones were bagged, with separate bags for loose parts, then put into individual heavy cardboard boxes which went into the big cartons along with the unbuilt kits. Wish me luck - they're enroute now and there's some real hot weather coming...
  2. Rich, there's a little difference where the hood tucks under to meet the grille, but it should be thick enough to modify. The hood should split along the front edge and the bottom part should be mounted above the grille. I did that on my '64.
  3. Planning ahead for when this kit arrives - just ordered up an original '63 issue NOS interior bucket, rear seat and dash from eBay to get the better detail. They fit the new body just fine!
  4. 1960 Imperial, definitely. What wheelcovers are in your '60 kit?
  5. Thanks Tim! Yes, a bit of newspaper digging revealed the show was held Thanksgiving weekend of 1975. I don't think this was exactly a "win" - probably more of a "participation award" . But nice to get a little recognition.
  6. Thanks! I guess that makes it 1976. Not sure which model I brought, but it was probably this one: AMT '57 Chevy on an MPC Super Stocker chassis.
  7. While getting ready for the big move back to SoCal, I found this in my old papers: The contest was held here in Chicago at the annual Speed and Custom Car Show - but I don't remember when this was. Anyone know what year was the eighth annual contest?
  8. I'll freely admit to taking part in such a creation - twice; first time at the Museum of Contemporary Art when the public was invited to glue all kinds of little items on a '76 Cutlass sedan (haven't found a photo yet), and second when I was part of the crew that glued some 22,000 mirror tiles on the now-sort-of-famous Disco Pinto: I mostly worked on the driver side front fender and the passenger door.
  9. And while you're at it, a piece of masking tape on the back of the part before you cut the sprue will help keep it from flying off to who knows where.
  10. One issue of this trailer had a set of two-piece open rims; the outer rim was a stepped ring and the inner rim had a raised center with lug nut detail. Nice looking piece I've never seen since (lost it and the lower spring/axle piece in the last move). Not the same as the '66 Vette open wheels; this fit a 13" tire. It has the old Chevy-pickup-style rear fenders. Looking forward to seeing the new 6-cylinder; hopefully it will be an improvement on the original (no axle holes now!) plus we'll get a separate battery, radiator, and master cylinder this time. REALLY hope the missing/polished-off detail on the interior will be fixed.
  11. I found a couple of my old sketches wile going through the basement. Didn't get too far on this drawing, but didn't get too far on the build either. I cut up two '62 Dodges when they were cheap; still have the parts stashed away. I extended the chassis to have a four-wheel steering setup, and reworked the side sculpting into a Buick check-mark shape. Headlights were supposed to be those odd little "micro lights" from the '65 Chevelle wagon; tail panel was a custom piece from the '65 Continental with two long thin horizontal taillights. Front bumper is the '57 DeSoto unit from the AMT custom parts pack. I suppose it could be called the XNR II.
  12. Great thanks to Dave and the crew - this forum has meant a lot to me and I hope to enjoy it and contribute more in the future.
  13. Of course a lot of old stuff, because I saw a lot of it when it was new: Batman SCTV Adam-12 I Love Lucy The Mothers-In-Law (not easy to find now but worth looking for) The Fugitive (thanks loads, MeTV, for not running the final season ) Dragnet (both the '50s and '60s version, plus the radio show whose stories were recycled into the TV series) Currently I've enjoyed Young Rock, and Air Emergency. Mysteries of the Abandoned was pretty good too.
  14. "I seed it. It was rapped arownd a treee."
  15. If you do, this may help - The plane Dana Andrews climbs into, and a recently-discovered image of the same plane in service: It was a trainer in the US during the war; the nose art Round ? Trip and bomb mission markings were added by the studio.
  16. Has anyone ever compared one of these Batmobiles to the Revell Lincoln Futura to see how well the basic dimensions match? Might be interesting...
